  • Im up for the dynamo. Brum pelaton anyone?

I promised Emily I would ride it with her so will get the same train with you if you want

  • anyone up for doing some longer rides over the weekend in the coming months?
i need to make sure i get out on my bike and and not go to the boozer on a saturday night otherwise i'll end up not doing the dunwich dynamo

  • Depending on Holiday dates could be up for both Brum to Oxford and the Dulwhich Dynamo!
Gotta book a trip to Cuba at some point though.

  • Forum for Birmingham cyclists:

  • There's going to be a Femme Pedale Ride on 7th May, 15-20 miles with a pub stop, will add a link when Lauren's done her route plan. As usual, all welcome, but the aim is to support more women cyclists especially those who want some experience riding on road.
It's also the weekend of Oxford Cycle festival apparently, not exactly Brum but it counts as the Midlands!

  • Ladies cyclist drinks after Critical Mass this friday. The Anchor, 7.30pm. Hope you can make it Nan.

  • Girls and Their Bikes 'Royal Wedding Ride', 1st May, to Sutton Park. Picnic when we get there!

  • Dunwich Dynamo main thread (people are thinking about organising a coach back)

    • West Mids Cycle Exhibition opens at We Are Birmingham 7th June
    • next At The Ride In is last week of June (waiting to hear where the containers are being moved)
    • hopefully Cycle Symphony first week of July (as above)
  • just made donation for july b-o ride

  • Did nobody go to the BMX track opening yesterday?!!?

  • Nope, apart from CycleAde there aren't many BMX racers on here are there? I was too busy trying a solo breakaway at the Birmingham Circuit Races to go watch grown men ride about on children's bikes ;)

  • nice dude! You should do a write-up. I wanna go down and check it out some point next weekend or the one after, I don't BMX (despite riding the bowl this weekend) but be good to spread the word!

  • I have done a write-up on my blog, nothing worth reading TBH it's just a personal record for me to look back on. Which bowl do you mean, the one by Allens Croft rd? My front wheel washed out on that because of all the dust. And some genius at Bham council decided to put a set of steps in the middle of it. Good idea, an obstacle with sharp edges in a place where people travel fast.

  • nah Clissold Park, London. First thing I said when I got there, "That fence looks way too close to the edge and it's got sharp metal bits!"...an hour later and about five injuries caused by the fence to various riders/skaters. Council = idiots.

Send me ya blog link, I'll put you on my links page.

  • Apparently a fox was found dead in there. It got stuck and couldn't get out and died (cry me a river) Anyway, the council were worried the same might happen with a person.. So they came in and slapped a flight of stairs right on the hip and fucked the lines up. They could have at least built some faux 'pool' steps or something. Cheers Bhm Council you twats!

    That's what I heard too.

Best park for me is the one by the Blues ground / heartlands hospital. It's not the best park, not very well designed but of all the 'not very well designed' skateparks I've ridden it's the best, simply because of the awesome 'far from perfect but I'm not gonna complain because it's so awesome to ride' bowl.

Only real problem is it's in a shady part of Brum and you really need to take a dustpan and broom to get rid of the rubble before you ride it... A gun is useful too for self defence but you risk getting jailed for unlawful posession of a firearm.

So probably gonna regret sticking my head above the parapet, but who's still interested in this from brum? I've a few friend who are up for it and was thinking of renting a van to bring back bikes and possibly people? If there's a few I'll start a new thread to discuss.

    Interested in DD Dan's Van.

  • Right you BMXers, The Girls BMX Tour is heading to creation skatepark this eve. Just heard from Juliet Elliot that they're leaving Liverpool now so will be there approx 6pm? Who's in? Can go for a cruise after/maybe take them to Perry Park?
