So you know how it goes when you're out cycling? Car driver behaves appallingly, no witnesses, no police and you end up fuming but without any positive action?

Well TODAY I experienced harrassment and intimidation from a driver and when I caught him at the lights and explained the error of his ways a motorcycling police officer intervened and apprehended the driver, enquired about his ID, tax, and what with this particular driver being a licensed mini-cab, a number of other questions came to the police officer's mind. Seemingly said cabbie was unable to provide answers to the officer's satisfaction and I was waved off cheerily by the police officer who assured me an arrest was imminent. Even if he didn't nick the cabbie, the fare sat in the cab was none too pleased with the 20 minute delay!

Praise be, the Met are the finest police force in the land and I won't hear a word against them!

  • oarsome.

  • I'm off to find the nearest rozzer so that I can give him or her a big hug. That would make my year if it happened to me.

  • Definitely makes up for all the kettling action.

Even that girl who had her fingers broken by a copper with a riot shield thinks they're doing a tip top job!

  • What was she doing putting her fingers near a riot shield? Dangerous hobby that, someone could get hurt.

  • Ace story. Cheers for posting.

some feds are good, some feds are bad.
its a bit more complicated than that but you get the jist.

Quite right but I doubt you'll find my threads discussing the good ones and loads discussing the bad ones.

    Balance.

  • I thinks it's just a nice (rare) story. Nothing more.

  • Definitely makes up for all the kettling action.

Nuffing makes up for the sheer criminality shown by those cowards

  • Look, its great that the cabbie 'got his' and everything, but as cyclists and individuals, i don't think relying on the the police force or any arm of the state is anyway to protect ourselves / make is safer on the roads. Bullyboy motorists need to be held accountable for their actions and often there is no proof that would hold up in any court to have any repercussions for the driver, even if statements are taken by the cops. More numbers on critical mass, more aggressive cycling, lets ride in the middle of the road not the gutters

  • Critical Mass is shit.

  • I tend to agree with @averyfeu in that I'm not sure on 'relying' on anyone is frankly helpful to creating an exciting, vibrant, safe society for us all to live our very short lives in. We all have a responsibility to make the world a better place. Right I'm now going back to trying to find chocolate....

  • More aggressive cycling will not achieve anything more than even more aggressive motorists.
Some cyclists are good, some are dickheads. Same for the drivers (only there's more of those).

You can't punish someone for the mistakes of others. It's childish.

fair enough but dont forget that a MOTORIST IS USUALLY DRIVING SOMETHING ALOT BIGGER AND COULD KILL YOU. if someone is giving it beef on the road deal with it but dont go looking for it by playing who can be the biggest cunt in the middle of the road..

  • Definitely makes up for all the kettling action.

    And the brain damage?

    Gist

  • I despair, Platini did not even comment on the use of "feds".

  • its slang, there are no spelling or grammatical errors with the term.

  • It's

i'm so happy right now! esp cos it was a taxi

  • He must have been a nice guy, I had some fella in a volvo cut me up forcing me to emergency stop and there was a police car right behind him. They did absolutely nothing!

    Gist

I suspect that Joe was confusing jism and gist in his gushing adoration of the poilce.

While it is correct that some police officers are good and others bad, as Sir Robert Mark observed many years ago, one rotten apple ruins the barrel. There are too many corrupt police officers whose activities are condoned by their superiors. Look at the incident of the police officer who removed her shoulder tags during the recent student demonstrations. Look at the imbecilic behaviour of the police when driving those minor royals to the theatre. Look at the assault that Platini links. The police are supposed to represent the community that they serve. In this they too often fail.
