I am surprised that there has been such a tiny response to this. A deaf cyclist and artist robbed of her sight, and severely injured, by an unlicensed truck driver? I can't help but feel that had this happened in London and posted in Rider Down the thread would now be 20 pages long.
LFGSS is usually at its very best and most generous when these awful incidents occur. I know some of you may have already donated a little money to help Emilie with her medical bills but if not please think about it now.
Thanks -

:-( This is really sad. Will, you're completely right.

I've chipped in, fully aware of how diffcuilt it is to heal yourself in the states.

ThanksI think its the thread title. I had also missed this the first time round.
Might be a good idea to add a bit more info to the title. -

...and the time of year, just before xmas and all.

Nah I doubt that.

Missed this too. Definitly needs to be moved to rider down or retitled as Will suggested, don't think it matters where a cyclists gets hit.
So good that emilie's cognitive faculties are intact. Hope she gets much better really fast. A worthy cause for donations (and easy to do with a paypal account) especially considering the inhumane healthcare available in the States

Poor lass.
Donated.

I have asked the mods to retitle and/or move the thread.

Maybe a forum fund, and a lump sum contribution? To show unified support, sort of thing.
-
• #16
Aye. Terrible shame.

Donated. Heart-breaking story.

I think as long as this thread keeps getting bumped people will help. The fund is open for another couple of months yet. If people are active on other forums or blogs perhaps they could help to bring Emile's situation to more people's attention too.

The NHS isn't perfect, but stories like this make you very, very glad of it.

Awful news and so so avoidable. Always hard hearing about things like this happening. Anyone on two wheels is a friend. Will certainly be donating.

Very unfortunate incident.
Donate if you can. Or not.
BTW I've no connection to this person (nor have any other info beyond the blog post below). I just read it on the Laekhouse Blog (http://www.laekhouse.com/blog/?p=1271)
