For Sale: Brooks Team Professional - perfect condition

Posted on
  • For sale is my Brooks Team Professional saddle in black. It is in perfect condition.

I got this a couple of weekends ago and have ridden on it less than 10 times. It's for sale as the flat surface area is not long enough for my behind and so I find myself hanging off the back. I really don't want to sell it as it looks perfect, the copper rivets are lovely.

It really is as new. I followed the instructions that came (and so will come) with it to the letter and applied a very small amount of Proofide to the top and also some to the under neither.

It has never been ridden in the rain, scratched, scuffed or tightened.

you get everything that comes with it: the rain cover, the tightening spanner, the little info leaflet, even the price label.

    Pics will follow shortly.

Cost £89.99 so I'm asking £77. Can meet Holborn area at lunch times or south east (forest hill) evenings / weekends. This week i'll be around until the 23rd.

If you dib please follow up with a PM.

    NOW SOLD

  • Have you tried moving it back a bit?
When new, they are a bit slippery and hard to get to grips with.......just a thought

  • yeah, I've tried it as far back as it can go (so the clamp is a mm or 2 away from the the edges) and I still need more room to slide back. It's a real shame, such a lovely saddle.

  • thompson layback?

  • Ah mate, that's a shame it didn't work out for you. What's the back up plan for LEJOG, or are you going to stick to the tried and tested?

  • Had a similar problem with my Brooks but fixed it with an FSA SL-220 seatpost - has loads of layback (it's an old product so secondhand only). Tried a few different posts (including Thomson and Velo Orange) - this shoved things back far enough (just) for me. Glad I persisted, Brooks really are comfy after a while.

  • same story...got mesel a thomson layback. solved. rode LEJOG straight after, no problems!

  • thanks for the suggestions. I'm not sure a layback post will help though. I think it is the flat surface area on the saddle that is too short. If I was able to move the saddle back I think that would just leave me sitting too far forward on it, which would be more uncomfortable. I feel like I'm sitting in the right place, there just isn't enough of the right place to sit on (if that makes sense...).

Does a layback post just make the overall reach longer? With my other saddle I've got my position feeling perfect, so I don't want to start messing with it.

  • there is a fundamental fact here that not all bums are made for all saddles, and sooner or later you have to accept that.

Sit bones different widths, spine different flex, newbie/advanced rider still differently at times. I'm assuming a male rider as females have some different criteria to males, etc etc

If the Co "Specialised" have gone to great lengths in research and design of saddles it goes to prove the point.

I know the saddle on offer is a beautiful one, and with the right person, will give years of pleasure, but to the wrong one it can put them off riding for ever.

That said, there is a "breaking in" exercise period which is meant to be endured- to reach Nirvana, but I'm never sure if its breaking in your backside or the saddle though....a modern saddle will likely fit straight off

    A bargain for someone

  • Then again, it does seem that most Spesh saddles are awful.
