Wanted: Small frame, for a small girl

  • Howdy.

so already found a perfect small frame and am very happy, now im going to try my luck with 2 more projects.

Now looking for 52-53cm and 53-54cm ctc frames.(I guess squareish to slightly short TT frames are ideal but that can be dealt with the stem/seat setup so open to offers as long as ST fits)

    1. 52 (or 53)cm - track or tight road frame, preferrably a vintage italian from around the 70s to 80s.
I guess with my budget it will have to be a road frame. something easily recognizable will be great. fancy paintjobs are welcomed.
I might be pursuaded to go overbudget too, so shoot me what you have if you want to get rid of it.

    2. 53 (or 54)cm - 50s-60s english F+F in bad condition. Paint condition doesnt matter at all. a bit of rust even ok if its cleanable.
looking for something with really ornate lugs like nervex pros or those swirly Carlton ones.
This was Hilary's Bob Jackson (JRJ) which sold for 43GN, something like this would be absolutely perfect(goddammit it was even the perfect size). if it has nervex lugs then even better.

I expect to spend 150 to 200 ish for 1, and less than 100 for 2.

Thanks guys! shoot me offers please!

    LFGSS 'wanted' postings do work!

  • Might be of interest.

Surly Steamroller F+F, too small for me. Seeing as you'll struggle to find a new frameset for less than 300 sterling, i think €140 is a fair price taking into consideration the couple of flaws it has.

    []49cm
    [
    ]Black Pewter
[]Paint in decent condition, usual scratches
    [
]One small dent in left hand seatstay which distorts the straightness of the tube really slightly, I have been riding this frame for months and have full confidence that there is no compromise in structural integrity as a result.
    []Tiny ding on top tube
    [
]Frame in structurally perfect condition apart from this
    []Fork perfect structurally
    [
]Sealed Cane Creek headset, sealed Shimano BB, both in very good condition
[*]Surly stickers showing signs of wear/ rubbing but enamel headtube badge is fine

    Flicks:

    SS:

    TT:

    Coin for size reference.

Anyone who's owned a Surly, and a Steamroller in particular will back me up on this. They are built like brick shithouses, especially the Roller. Hence the use of 4130 and absence of lugs, it's a straight, to the point workhorse.

Shoot me a PM if you're interested, I'll do £125 posted from Dublin.

  • thanks youll get a pm in a minute

  • still looking, thanks for the offer federal. good frame at a good price.

  • Thanks guys for the offers!

jseph.love - thats a really lovely bike youve got there, but unfortunately i think its way too large!

pipwish - yeah i had an eye on those for a while, really nice frames! unfortulately the frame costs more than the entire budget for the bike im trying to build... :(
not saying they are bad prices at all.. good luck mate. somebody will take them soon.

  • this any good?

    http://www.lfgss.com/thread57254.html

also i've got smaller TT one too (c. 52) -made by orange with white pearlesant paint - PM if that sound right?

both true track legal frames - no brake hole on fork on either...

  • Have this which might be suitable for (2):
FALCON SAN REMO ROAD FRAME 1970s Reynolds 531 double butted
    Seat Tube (ctt): 53cm (21in)
    Top Tube (ctc): 53cm (21in)
    Rear dropout width: 126mm
Wheel size: Sprints/700C (brake drop 50mm)
    Seatpost size: 27.2mm
Falcon are best known for their budget and medium priced frames but in the 1960s and 1970s also had a top specced road frame in their range - the San Remo and they sponsored a full Professional team for much of this time. This frame belonged to Vic Smith, a top amateur road rider and time triallist in the East Midlands from the 1960s/70s. Its in very sound condition but needs repainting as the paint is in very poor condition. And will make a very easy conversion to fixed or singlespeed. £75

and what about this for (1):

    ANDRE BERTIN ROAD FRAME 1970s
    Seat Tube (ctc): 53cm (21in)
    Top Tube (ctc): 54cm (21.25in)
    Rear dropout width: 120mm
Wheel size: Sprints/700C (brake drop 52mm)
Frame tubing: Reynolds 531 double butted
    Seatpost size: 26.6mm
This is a really rather lovely Bertin road frame from the 1970s; it has I think been repainted fairly recently in one of their Team colour schemes. The paint is generally excellent with just a few small marks. It comes complete with an excellent Stronglight roller bearing headset. £179

  • Thanks Varno, Number6 and Hilary.
