Oh and here's the twist, i was thinking: Managers don't play.
-
• #5
It's a very good idea Max. I think many people here will be interested and that won't be a problem to make a french team.
To me 10 players by team is the maximum, 8-9 players is better. In Paris we had 8 players by team, and that were 2*25min games. In Chicago for the next Bench Minor, it will be 9 players by team.

10-12 players is loads. I reckon 6-8 would be better?
-
• #7
Ahh Greg - just what i was thinking!
-
• #8
Same, less than 10 is good. 8 is the better, force to mix the lines (9 is too much 3x3).
Managers should play.
Teams should be from the country only? (i.e. Swiss team only with swiss players?) or is juste the location from the GM?.

• #9
(p.s., Im fuckin' in!).
-
• #10
I think i'm going to stick with 10, i want to allow the most players possible. It worked in East Van.
Managers aren't playing.
I would like very much that teams should be from the country only.

Can managers get drunk?
-
• #12
Who gonna come from other country and don't play? Look a lil' bit hard to pay plane ticket to london and don't play, no?
Edit:
Can the manager be a londonian? (for the swiss team i.e.) -
• #13
I'm in. Fucking awesome max. I'll have a bit of free time over christmas so if you need a hand with anything drop me a line.
-
• #14
I actually think everyone should play. I wouldn't want to be a manager, just because I'd wanna play against the other teams, we don't get to play those guys that often. And also, Clement has a good point, who is gonna pay a couple of hundred euros to come and not play.

Can managers get drunk?
yes, but your team can also kick the shit out of you
Who gonna come from other country and don't play? Look a lil' bit hard to pay plane ticket to london and don't play, no?
Edit:
Can the manager be a londonian? (for the swiss team i.e.)Someone who wants to be a manager?
(and play awesome pick up as well)If Switzerland have a hard time finding someone to be a manager (who doesn't play) then we'll talk about having a LDN manager. But just see if anyone is interested.
Thanks

The manager who gonna come and don't play gonna probably be a rich and weak player, or a sister or a girlfriend...
I reasonably can say that im not gonna find someone who could play and wouldn't... -
• #17
I like the idea of the manager not playing. I would probably prefer to manage a team than be the 'weak player who doesn't get picked for more than 30 seconds' in the 10 player squad....
-
• #18
Do managers still have to pay to enter? ;]
-
• #19
Oh I just realised I fit in to uolmo's stereotype there... haha!
-
• #20
Ha!
So max:
The managers make the draft?
Who elect managers? -
• #21
Nice one Max, make it happen!
I'd play on a team or manage a team.
-
• #22
Yes, ideally the managers would make the pick.
We would leave it up to you to organise your own draft and elect your own managers (if anyone in Switzerland stands for the position).
We will be having a draft here in London as well, so we might try to help every country do it live on google docs or something.

We were talking about this at the pub last night and a number of people came out and said they'd mange even if it meant not playing (and not players of Clement's description). Clement may be right in the case of people travelling (that no one will want to manage), but we don't know until we ask around.
-
• #24
i'd be keen. the non-playing managers sounds good too. less 'i'm the shit' and more 'deal with it'.
-
• #25
I would be up for it, if selected on the (rest of) England team. It would be cool to see a different format in action.
~~Ok, so as discussed in this thread here: http://www.lfgss.com/thread54562.html
I am thinking about organising a Bench Minor style tournament here in January.
I looked into hiring Battersea over Xmas period, however it seems people aren't available. So i will enquire about January. Bill raised the issue of the wooden floors, (badminton halls) and i agree it could be difficult if we damage them.
So, i have contacted the Lord Roberts Centre, in Bisley, Woking (about 25mins on the train).http://www.lrcbisley.co.uk/ Who have a large indoor roller hockey court.
I was thinking of doing a 2 day tournament. Sat/Sun. With maybe 8 teams of 10/12 players. RR then single elim final. 30 minute games, unlimited scores.
With 8 teams of 10 players that gives 80 spots. My original idea was to divide teams like so:
London 1
London 2
(Rest of) England
France
Germany
Switzerland
South of Europe (Italy/Spain)
North of Europe (Benelux countries)
Picking a captain for each region, and then doing drafts.
I may be getting a little ahead of myself, but i'd like to gauge an interest before i run with anything.
So, if our Euro friends (looking at you Clement, Greg, Alejandro, Hannes, etc) who read this forum could tell me whether they think their region would be interested/able to fill the spots.
Also if anyone would like to volunteer to be a manager for a region, let me know.
Max~~
