Nice idea. Without the wheels maybe...
-
• #3
I don't know if I have a tall enough stem though,,,
-
• #4
better than nothing, but you'd get a fair bit of wobble on that thing
-
• #5
more of a storage stand than a work stand
-
• #6
Bolting/clamping a pair of handlebars onto the side of a table might be more of a workstand.

similar to:
although i guess this is just for storage and maybe not as easy to make

Toby are you in Viet naam? That looks fly, but purpose built I would think.

Can't see those pics from Toby?
Hoping to 'copy' this idea with a speaker stand - at least that way I won't be chasing it round the living room!

Nice looking bike but are the forks bent at the crown
-
• #11
Yes, I think it looks downset at the crown too. Nice storage option though, looks tidy, easy to slot a shelf down the pole. I might even do one meself.

I knew the old floor fan and bent drop bars I kept would come to use some day. Thou the metal fan stand seems a bit unstable to hang a bike on??
-
• #13
Can you use this for winter training?
-
• #14
Finally got round to it...
Needs a longer stem so the pedals can turn (quite important) and something to stop the bike swaying around in the breeze - other than that it keeps the bike off the floor!?
-
• #15
Not bad.

• #16
Great idea.
Any thoughts on how it could be interpreted as a wall bracket/display bracket. Would just need to find a way of fixing a stem to the wall. -
• #17
You could use a straight ahead stem, but put the bars through the headset end and use the other end to mount to the wall – hope that make sense?
-
• #18
unless you meant like this...
-
• #19
Ha! That looks wicked! WANT!

I saw the same article in Boneshaker, and, needing a wall-mount rather than a stand, my thoughts went exactly in the same direction - the Gropes trophies could make an excellent rack. Only problem is finding a handlebar that will hold the bike far enough from the wall.
Saw this in Boneshaker 3, looks cheap and fairly easy to make - mobile too!
