cool.
any chance you could test the vestax?
-
• #5
Not really. I don't have any amp/speakers/cables at work.
You're more than welcome to try it though.Actually I could take it home and try it tonight. I'm off to Ghent Fri and prefer not to carry the heavy bastard around if at all possible. Hmm.. you gonna be out west at all this week?
-
• #6
yep - i can meet you wed or thurs.
-
• #7
Ok, I'll take it home and try it out. You gonna be at Wests on Thurs?
How good/bad does it have to be?
-
• #8
i am not really sure. it's for recording a trial of a radio show, so i guess it doesn't really matter. as long as it isn't crackley as fuck.
i am not an expert in these devices.
-
• #9
i will be at wests.
-
• #10
The Gem is probably crackly as fuck.. that IS what they're famous for :)
I'll test the Vestax then and bring the better one to Wests.
Will they be mixing tunes? using x-fader and eq's and stuff or just slidin' the sliders of slideness? -
• #11
we just want it to mix between the two decks/mike. there won't be too much fancy music mixing going on, just hot salty rock, with a bit of banter in between.
-
• #12
The Gem might do it and your mate can keep it for 2 pints of any lager that's not Fosters ;)
-
• #13
I've got one of these:
They're really pretty good. Good sound quality and EQ control, I don't use it much as it doesn't have curve adjustment on the crossfader. Located in Willesden ... you're welcome to borrow

I've got a radio suite if you've got the cash? Actual proper one. With disabled access for you too.
-
• #15
that's the thing, snowy, we want to have a go first, and if it is alright, the guy with a radio station has a radio suite that we will be doing the actual show from. thanks, though.
just out of curiosity, what does it cost to hire?
dan - lemme see how we get on with fatso's and if that doesn't work, I'll be in touch. thanks.
-
• #16
Ooh, dunno. I was going to try and do some sort of deal / trade thing with some colleagues to get access to it, so don't have a unit cost. I'll ask some questions, cos I want to know for the future.

Big Red Motherfucker, I tested the Vestax tonight and it all seems to work.
The sliders and bass eq knobs are really really well used but they still work, they're just real loose you know, like your man-pussy..So, if you want to borrow one I really don't want it back.. 2 pints for the probably scratchy Gem or £20 for the Vestax? Too much? Blow me, Mr. Bank's Richest Mortgage :P
What say you, fair maiden? Which one should I bring to Wests? You know you want one...
-
• #18
Red wine? Hehe.
If the Vestax is the better if the two, then twenty bucks sounds fair. If my radio career goes tits up, I can carve out a new one making ntss ntss music with it in Ibiza.
Thanks for that.
-
• #19
No worries, I'll bring it to Wests.
-

I'd never used this mixer until today. I bought a PCV275 before I'd even unwrapped this one.
Someone else has definitely made good use of the sliders :) -
• #22

the fader on the mixer is ruuted, hippy.
-
• #23
Linky please...

i will soon - i promise.
As above, really. A friend and I need to borrow a mixer for this weekend.
It will be used only in my house.
Can you help?
Rich.
