Any WordPress Wizards?

a client has just asked for her proposed website to be built in wordpress. Our web developer has the day off, probably watching re-runs of the gadget show in his pants

I need to pick someones brains on whether a particular design can be customised from a wordpress them

Depends on how the theme is licensed.

I think BDW is providing the skin and is asking about how it will be applied to the WP cms so licensing isn't an issue.

need to recreate this in wordpress, don't know if you can have a 'cut off' vertical point for info so I can put in a horizontal graphic

Wayne, explain that Wordpress requires more tweaking than a straight-up web build, but the benefits will obviously be the CMS and modular nature, say it will cost x amount more (unless you want to go down the Wordpress route yourselves).

You'll either be able to find a theme that requires little to no customisation (win), or just have to custom build your own theme. Both may require a little tweak of the design. Pretty easy though for a web developer... mostly PHP and grid-based visuals with your type treatment and effects on top.

Do you actually need it built - or do you just want some info? That looks like you could easily build it in WP.

just need to know if it's possible for it to be built - the only page the client needs to be able to input stuff is on the blog page of the site

Yes. Basically pretty much anything is possible with WP if you've got the right developer

Ahh, ok. I've bought some before from Graphpaper Press and also the theme I used had some form of license attached.

Nice platform though. I like wordpress. Make sure you install Askimet and also WP-SuperCache to avoid the server taking a hammering in case you more than five views a day.

Where would I likely find where Wordpress does redirects? My post links seem to all be redirecting back to the homepage. Obviously I don't remember changing anything that would likely do this but something has changed.

Where's the best place for templates these days? I've used envato with mixed results but maybe the mixed result is trying to bodge a 60 dollar template into what I want that should cost about two zeros more than that.
