it seems general opinion is that cold weather balls are unnecessary.
Last year my cold weather sat in my bag nearly all season as everytime i got it out (even when it was freezing) someone would turn their nose up and ask for a 'real' ball...
Maybe talk to eggpie, as I think he ordered a fair few coldies by mistake before the BFF.

i like how the warm balls go hard, give you a better crack when u hit em sweetly

I ordered cold weather "marble" balls last Winter... they're pricey and were hardly ever used (when there was snow/ice the marbled balls were about right, but most people didn't like using them).

Mine tend to tuck up like little marbles too, it takes a good warm shower to get them down again. Strangely most people don't like using mine either.

Ok, are the balls that Harvey got Super High Density?
-
• #8
Yup... You want the orange high density ball, I thought Jono had a whole bunch at the cycle show?

The high density is exactly what I want.

I've got one you can have to tide you over... Check the 'we need balls' thread, I got a really cheap quote for some off a distro in Europe...

The orange ones I had were the shite brittle/hard ones, they went to members of the public/kids who wanted them.
I have a couple winter balls that I'll bring out when the weather drops... you can have one if you like Bill?

I am after the high density ones, although I wouldn't mind having one winter ball.

For the record, super high density balls are the reds we use most of the time (same as Harveys).
High density balls are orange and also come in neon green, marble effect, etc and are best for polo in sub-zero temperatures (they are advertised as 0 degree or above balls).
You can also get low density balls for even colder temperatures than 0 degrees, but these have never been successfully used in polo as we tend to use the balls for lower temperatures than advertised.
The ones I bought were not NHL branded but were listed as Franklin super-high density (I think), they were rubbish and are listed for roller hockey not street hockey (again, I think), avoid.
You can also get Franklins filled with liquid which will be one of the types above but with an "AGS system" added to it, they can work when drained, but again, avoid.

Just make it more confusing, the temperatures given on the packaging is all fahrenheit, so what we would call sub zero ball is listed as 0 - 32 degrees.
But to clarify, I am after the high density ball. Often orange in colour.

In that case I have one you can have Bill, except it's marble coloured... you're gonna love it.

Brill!
Thanks to Harvey, we have a mountain of warm weather balls.
However, it is now autumn, and winter comes after autumn. Pique already shattered one ball on a particularly cold morning at Mitch, and the other week when Degeneration played Zombie, on a cold evening at Mitch, I noticed that the balls had gone very very hard.
I don't want to turn this into a long drawn out thing, but is anyone else interested in buying cold weather balls?
