  • Hi there,
I am looking to get a really small stacked 1" threaded headset preferably chrome. Does anyone have anything that fits the bill?

  • I can recommend a Chris King GripNut.

  • tange i believe have one of the smalelst stacks, available pretty cheaply at sjs, I was looking myself at small stack recently, but for 1" it's pretty limiting unless you manufacture one yourself.

    CK for quality

  • ^^As above, just beat me to it...

Or a budget Tange Passage stack is just 30.2mm'ish (smaller than old 105). I couldn't find a chrome one when I was looking but they do come in silver

  • Stock Status: Unavailable

  • Or wait for an old Campag Pista to show up on eBay...

  • Maybe you could de-anodise a Tange Passage if you were that bothered... Cheap as chips, I just gave a used one away...

  • Just put a Tange Passage on BlueQuinnTwo for the same reason.
    in stock at SJS
    http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/tange-passage-1-inch-shallow-steel-cup-threaded-headset-302-mm-stack-height-prod9225/

£12.99, and in the box is a bit of paper in which Tange somewhat boldly claim to have made the finest headset available to humanity.

Dunno what people are buying Chris Kings for in that case.

Do you think they could be fibbing?

  • Last time I checked, Chris King headsets, unlike their Tange counterparts, were not made from soft cheese.

  • Are you sure? have you checked the yellow ones?

  • Cheers for all the advice guys. when it says stack height 30.3mm is that the whole headset or just the bit pretruding from the top of the head tube?

  • steerer tube length - length with threaded headset installed = stack height. (i think anyway)

  • so minus the bits that sit inside the headtube basically.

  • Iv got a tange levin because its got a 31mm stack hight or something around that.

  • cheers guys. aye henry, mine is so fucked like... verging on unusable. how much do you want for it?

  • It's on my bike...

  • i see.... misunderstanding!

  • yours for £600.

  • as long as you include the rest of the bike!

  • deal. Now to buy a lo pro.

  • Gripnut might be your best bet depending on how much steerer tube you have to play with.

Or you can buy my Tange Levin - as new - think it's 33mm but I'd have to check.

  • Ok I'm reviving this thread to ask: does anyone have any idea just how tall a Gripnut is?

  • Have you checked here?

    http://chrisking.com/specs/headsets_all

    33 - 38mm for the 1" if I'm reading it correctly.

  • << Duh.

    Thanks!
