Got one of these half built, in a box. just need the electrics before I finish it and lose it to my daughter. -
• #3
Get it finished and racing! What kind of motor you thinking of putting in it?

Used to race my HPI RS4 3 down where crystal palace used to have its track.
The bodies were never my thing, usually ran it without one. -

Had a Nikko when I was a teenager, took ages to get it up and running (might still be with the rents).

I have had two buggies and a 2003 impreza, all tamiya, destroyed the last two when I was drunk and burnt all the speed controllers out. I am a lot more sensible with this new one. Fitted 10.5 brushless motor, changed the stock plastic shaft to an alloy one and changed the gear ratio...its bloody fast!!

Had a lunchbox when I was a kid, but I'm up for building an E30 M3. Is this the one you've just built, OP?
-
• #8
its actually a drift spec type, am running regular road tyres on it at the mo.
-
• #9
It is indeed! Drift spec yeah?

Had a 2wd off-road Tamiya which I think is still in my parents loft. Could be fun these days now I've got a bit more cash for toys.
What I really want these days is a fucking helicopter, but being stuck in the middle of North London would kinda limit the opportunity to use it.

this sounds like a bigger geek off than bikes, I'm out I'm afraid.
-
• #12
I own a full sized one, and want to build a Tamiya version in the same colour etc.

Always wanted the lunchbox when younger and a hornet...very tempted to get a hornet actually.

You want one of these!

I had/have a hornet, somewhere in a box. Just googled it, they're a lot cheaper these days.

I know I'll regret posting this, but my lunchbox was crushed under a 248 bus when I was a kid.
They were demo'ing one of these outside HMV the other day. Ingenius, but a lack of home build about it.

Rusty, that thing looks insane! This is a link to my BMW,

God I used to love RC cars, had a Tamiya Hornet back in the day, always seem to spend more time fixing it or charging the batteries though!

I must admit I did a LOL when I read that, sorry! The worst thing to happen to an RC car!

The hornet is a classic, they were only reissued a few years back. Just under 100 quid for the kit now.
-

The chassis are generally inexpensive, but the bodyshells are a bit toppy.
-
• #22
And flimsy! Well, as long as you try not to crash them, already flipped mine over twice.

Tamiya do a lot of paints. If you remember, most of the shell are clear, so you can paint them what ever colour you want. Cutting them out is a bastard!

I couldn't handle going through them like toothpicks. And for that reason I'm out! I jest - I haven't really asked for anything for my birthday this year, so I may ask for the kit form from the missus and start from there.
Anybody into building, racing RC models? I have recently built a BMW M3 Sport Evo.
