Charge Iron 150 BIN which is way above your budget and it's a SS but it is a lot of bike for a small price :)

thanks for the heads up, but really looking for something much more rubbish than that! Like maybe a second hand 10 speed from Halfords, that goes along. I think that's what my friend is expecting me to find

This Apollo Aerotech might fit the bill: 22", 18-speed, nice 1.90 wheels etc. It needs a bit of a clean-up, but works well and is within your budget. Let me know.

Hello peeps
A friend of mine who is over here for a semester from the US would like to spend as little as possible on getting around, and would like a cheap bike. He's used to mountain bikes rather then fixed or ss, so I've said I'll try and find him something for cheap asap. He's about 5ft10". I've pmd some people on here, but none of the bikes on offer are ready to ride, they are more the ready-to-convert variety.
Whatchagot? Anyone got a possibly ugly but ready-to-ride MTB lurking, and looking to make an easy £30 - £50?
Didn't want him to go on gumtree only to get had by bike thieves selling OPP...Cheers x
