I had a bike stolen in the same sort of area. It was at the sunday car boot sale (at wholesale markets) the following sunday.
I suggest you go down there this sunday for a look. There are regular bike thieves in the area, junkie types that sell the bikes at the market.

Its a long story, some chap had purchased the bike of a stall holder.
Got the market police to sort it out. Luckily I had reported the theft and it was logged. So the popo called up to check details, confirmed it was mine. Then forced the stall holder to give the buyer a refund and then I got my bike back.
The stall holder wasnt the thief by the way.

The Market starts at 6am, it's dark and freezing cold. Good luck!

No need to go early, doors stay open till 2pm.
Its highly likely that the thief will rock along and try to either flog it to a stall holder or sell it just outside. I dont think they'd be there that early though.
