I have such, but what drop is Juan looking for?

(sheepish face) I've done that silly thing where I forgot to check before I left the house so I don't have exactly the distance... er medium to long? I think about 60mm (it's just too long for the single pivot 105s I have) but I'll have to check exactly later.
What do you have?

60mm as near as I can work out -Shimano jobbies, weren't quite long enough for the tantrums additional rear brakes

the weinman double pulls should work as well as anything else - have you tried different pads or pad angle? or even rims? those calipers were used on touring bikes designed for fully loaded touring - sometimes carrying 20 stone down hills. i wouldn't be too much in a rush to overlook them. THE CABLE AT THE TOP SETS THE AMOUNT OF MECHANICAL FORCE YOU CAN EXERT FOR A GIVEN AMOUNT OF PULL - YOU CAN GET 3 OR 4 DIFFERENT LENGTHS - TRY A SHORTER LENGTH FOR MORE POWER BUT LESS TRAVEL IN THE CALIPER
or try the rx100 ones (a400 i think )
or miche performance - very similar to rx100 - less thAN 20 GBP A PAIR

Desperate 'need something ASAP' bump, this bike needs finishing within a day or two! The front Weinman snapped...

Welcome to the club: I have a Raleigh that needs gibbon length brakes. Particularly if you are going from 630 to 622 rims. I am watching this thread with interest.

Get thee to a bicycle shop. I bought an acor the other day, seems great. And it was cheap.

@skully - which shop did you go to? I haven't had much luck where I've looked thus far

I got mine from Wes @ London Bicycle Workshop, SE1. A great little workshop who sell bits too, but not bikes.

These ones?:
ALHONGA Deep Drop Brakes
http://www.spacycles.co.uk/products.php?plid=m2b0s100p149
They seem very reasonably priced. A QR cam would be nice though :-)

yep, true. But I'm running it with a BMX type (Dirt Harry i think it is) lever so I can pop the cable head thingy pretty easily.
-

Yeah, those are the ones I ordered. Yes, i got the name wrong... I'm not very clever
-
• #15
I can also supply Alhongas for £18 a pair...

Would anyone like to sell me just 1 deep drop brake? I think I can make either a front or a rear work, but rear preferably.
I know they're reasonably priced, but it just seems a waste to by a pair when I only need one.

Where are you? I am also looking for aero levers for drops, and cross levers. But affordable!
I'm looking for a cheapish set of deep drop brake calipers for converting a Raleigh Candice for a friend... the Weinmans on there work, just not very well, so looking for something with a bit more stopping power. Nut fitting (old style) preferrable as I don't have the time, energy or drill to adapt the frame for a recessed fitting bolt.
If anyone has anything lying about spare, that would be splendid.
Cheers
