I like the idea of changing that. So if you're in the polo forum it would be "It's all about the polo".
or "no polo, no talk" -

Should be ''LFGSS - It's all about the bitching''
Should be ''LFGSS - It's all about the merging''
Should be ''LFGSS - It's all about using the fucking search''
Should be ''LFGSS - It's all about the just fucking google it''
Should be ''LFGSS - It's all about the beer''
All of the above. It'd be good if you had a range of straplines that appeared randomly.

Dunno if it's intentional, or if it comes under the ''bits that don't work yet'' banner, but I'm finding the threads hard to read as the poster's details are in the same column as the actual post content, rather than off to the side.

Only the main page has any work done on it, everything else has had everything else stripped out. That includes Javascript, and styling information.
So in short, it looks shit and things don't work. But that's how it's supposed to be [for the time being].

Yeah, im finding it hard to read too...

• #58
Me too. Definitely hard to read.

it gets easier the more you look at it

Does it also have a really low number of posts per page too? looks like a 10 post max?
Not keen on the double spacing and default font size.. also, it seems that the poster details appearing under the post (i.e the post not indented) makes the layout a bit weird and spaced out.
Are we supposed to by providing feedback or just fill it with posts?

I can't read anything today anyway.

it doesn't work on IE4

Is what you can see now already meant to approximate the initial intention for this round of tweaking? It still has a way to go, I think. I'd provide comments but I'm not quite sure how far along the intended changelog we are.

I dont see the need to change anything, except give the Forum a nice header
And to make it work on mobile. And to make it work on touch interfaces. The combination of which already make up over 12% of page views and growing, whilst IE6 usage is below 5% and shrinking.

It does have a low posts per page and threads per page (forum view). We got bored filling it with junk content so I re-configured it so that we didn't have to do as much.
Can I post this in bold?
THE ONLY THING ALMOST DONE IS THE HOME PAGE.
NOTHING ELSE HAS REALLY BEEN DONE.
What I did was to take a standard vBulletin and disable ALL styles and deleted ALL JavaScript. Then I started work on the homepage, and as all pages share a header you get some of the same colours elsewhere. But nothing aside from the home page and a bit of the forum listings have been touched. It looks shit and I know it.

It won't be designed to work on anything below IE9. Though it should function all the way back to IE6. Not a chance for IE4 or NN4.

Nope, not at all.
Can I say it again?
THE ONLY THING WORKED ON WAS THE HOME PAGE.
I wonder if people can hear me. Feels like I'm shouting into a void.

If you want a good idea of how this all really works... look at the home page on your mobile phone if you have an Android or iPhone.
It's nice. It works well and is exactly the same fully featured page as if you go to the site using Chrome or Safari on your desktop.
Now rotate your mobile. The site continues to fit, optimal reading width and clear controls.
It's that kind of build once access from anywhere that I'm going for. Oh, and the speed... did you notice how fast that was on your mobile? And that includes a JavaScript library I'm not even using yet.

mobile looks good... like the resizing.
Seems easier to read too

Can't merge anything. I'm going to bikeradar.

Ignoring stuff that eye suspect easily fixable, like colours, the front page looks, and works, really well on Android (htc desire, vodaphone, latest software) ...... IMHO

The quote and edit buttons seem out of place style wise, and badly cut out:
Also, are you adding signatures? I thought these were banned (which I like).

The 30 second delay between posts is the one feature so far that really really annoys me and makes the forum harder to use. Is that changeable?

I dont get it

The 30 second delay is not part of the 'look'. For all I know it is built in to the new kind of template Big V is using and cannot be changed. The point of the dummy forum is so we can say what we do or do not like about it at this stage and as Big V works on it we can say what we do or do not like at each subsequent stage. Or that's how I see it.

works and looks pretty good on my fone
