  • Question from a noob - how many Space Invader (edit not Pacman Ghosts) Mosaics in the Northern Quarter / wider city?

Is there a prize if you spot them all? I'm on a measley 2 so far.

  • one just off sackville st, on the path next to the railway bridge...apart from that im not very observant

  • Gonna have to go invader hunting i think, there's one on the road paralell to Warwick Street (by the newish building with the passage between it, near Koffee Pot) and another i saw nearby when i was a bit lost. Will start to get pics.

  • he came to manchester in 2004 while the graffiti exhibition was on at the urbis,

there are 47 in manchester, there was a map you could buy from urbis with them all on, photos here:

  • i've got a copy of the map, but i couldn't tell you right now where it is in my life. if i could find it (doubtful now) i'd do a scan of it. but yeah, urbis is your best bet.

  • few are dead though - like the one off oldham st.

Not all by space invader though either?

  • yeh all the same guy

  • are they? I thought the big ones were copycat jobs?

  • cheers for the links, nice stuff.

  • Bump... Loving the likes of Marble and Hilary Step but looking for nice pub (real ale style) with a Pool Table, and decent juke box. Chorlton area if poss. Any offers?

  • Best juke box is Oddest on Wilbraham, as it's regularly refreshed by King Bee Records peeps (just over the road) - lots of guest ales but sadly no pool table there.

Which, for no obvious reason, reminds me - has anyone been to Dr Pong's in Berlin? I think Chorlton/Fallowfield could be ripe for a similar venture...

  • The Bowling Green off Chorlton Green has a pool table and they do a great sunday roast.

  • Nice one, thanks. Will swing by both sometime. Cheers.

  • Update on Invaders... my GF bought me the book Invasion in the UK for Xmas. Nice, think I'll go on an Invader tour of Manc one weekend.

  • make it a ride... :)

  • Good idea :)

  • Anyone heard any news on the MCR Invaders being taken down? Not been around them all but those I know there whereabouts of are vanishing leaving only the tile paste.

    Sad days.

  • I only ever saw a few.

  • Still one at the end of Chorlton St nr junction with Portland. Best condition one I've seen is in Levvy as you head up towards the land of biscuit smells.

Maybe time for a bit of stencil action on the loop?

  • Does anybody know a place that sells green coffee beans in Manchester?

  • Maybe one of the local roasters could hook you up?

  • Yeh that's looking like the only possibility for now as I can't find any shops that stock them.

  • Ancoats Coffee seem like decent people, you could try asking them?

  • Venus Supermarket has small bags of green beans, I bought a bag but never got round to roasting them, probs past best now.

  • But yeah +1 what they all said about local roasterers
