Sounds good. How about a relay sprint through the city center - from top of St Stevens through to the Artichoke at the end of Magdalen St. Loads of different directions riders could take.

Yeah man sounds sweet. Sparky and I have got a small race planned. £2 entry. Best times from 3 races, maybe even do a street Keirin race! Watch this space.

NVS Death Sprints is a race running from Barn Road, up Grapes Hill, around the Chaplefield Roundabout, back down Grapes Hill, around the Halfords Roundabout and then sprint to the finish. The route is 1.2 miles and should be fun...
Race will cost £2 per rider. Rides in groups of 2. Winner goes through to the next round. Overall winner takes all. Times will get collected, so we can run a time trial also and people can try and beat their PB.. Also the idea of a Keirin had crossed my mind, however traffic lights may put pay to that.

Why do I get the feeling all these events will be prefixed with Death? Anyway, I'll join in.
You've designed a route with a whole lot of lights and junctions though! -
• #8
4 sets of lights each way down there.
You need to lay down some rules like is RLJ'ing aloud?
Also I'll happily take the pictures for this if you want.

Jesus - someone will die :D

The roundabout is big and reasonably negotiable. I'm too pussy to RLJ the lights coming down Grapes Hill at 30+ though, no visibility until very late on those. Maybe a spotter would help.
-
• #11
I think you have got to say that RLJ is not allowed. I don't want PuP to be sued because someone is squished to death. Also don't want to see anyone squished to death, or have to clear it up.

I'm sure we could find lower-traffic sprint routes. Marriott's way between Hellesdon Hall Road and St Cripsins for example.
-
• #13
Yeah, there's got to be a better road for it - something less busy and without lights?
-
• #14
Yeah, there's got to be a better road for it - something we won't all die on
fixed.
-
• #15
Oh and how about the gas hill climb champions?
-
• #16
I'm not actually worried about the danger of riding, just the legal fallout of a serious accident.
Litigation is way more scary than taking a smash.

Ah man. It was only gonna be a one nighter, the lights make it more random times wise. Have thought about having people to watch out on the roads, light timing etc, and I only called it death sprint to tie in with halloween. I quite understand where people are coming from, so if ya want to give it a go, say so. If you don't that's fair. Just want to try and get something sorted for us all to do games wise. I come from a BMX background, so HnS aint the top of my lists when it comes to thinking about these things!

Oh and how about the gas hill climb champions?
Dom's Dad used to do the Gas Hill Gasp, which was a race up-down-up-down!
-
• #19
I also think a random sprint would be a good idea.
Your given a random place in the city to sprint and make your own way there.
-

**This calls for a list of events;
EVENT LIST
**Sprints - either pre plotted or to a random location in the city.
Hill climbs - Gas hill could be a good one. -

Well, fuck it. Shall we just have this little event as planned. Have a spotter on Grapes/Barn/Bennedict Junction to let the sprinters know of light situations/ and traffic. Also, late at night traffic is very low. I think we shall only get away with doing this the once as we don't want the fuzz on our backs!
-
• #22
Lets just do it and get everyone to say to a camera; "I'll be a good boy/girl and obey all the traffic laws, and if I don't it's not PuP's fault and I won't sue him or his family or the city or the driver and I will say sorry in a very sincere tone, and probably even mean it a little bit."
Then we should be safe. And anyone who wants to take their life into their hands can do so, but get a disaproving tut-tut from me upon their return.
;)
PS: I will win. With no RLJing.

Winner gets a pint - PUP is buying as it's his event!
How about it? A monthly event I.e. a time trial, drag race, alley cat, just general fun night with foot down, tricks, quick stop, tracks stand comp etc. Just something different each month!
I was thinking at the end of each month we should do a late night "Death Charge Time Trial". 2 points seperated with a mile in between e.g. Between the 4 ways roundabout and Constitution Hill roundabout? 4 laps. £3 entry fee. Winner takes all. Prizes maybe included if we can kick it all off.
Obviously there is the board @ the Bicycle shop so we can get a load of advertising + local blogs/ shops etc...
