Vote for CycleStreets in Future Friendly awards

  • Not sure if anyone here has ever used CycleStreets but it's a not-for-profit online cycle route planner: http://www.cyclestreets.net/. I have nothing to do with the project, I just think it has a lot of potential. They've been shortlisted for a Future Friendly award (£10k). If you think they should get it please vote for them before midnight on Sunday at http://www.futurefriendly.co.uk/ - you don't need to register or anything, just click.

  • done -

future friendly website is not too well designed - click on 'the future friendly awards', top right, then on 'view more details' under 'cyclestreets' - then there's a button next to the video that lets you vote..

  • Done. CycleStreets is totally brilliant and deserves a ton of support. Simon and Martin are fantastic.

  • gave a try, found really good, so got my vote thumbs up

  • Done and bumped: come on everyone, only takes a minute to support to this cycling site.

  • Bumpity bump.

  • done

  • Another reason to vote for them ...

Cyclestreets App for Iphone now out

    http://www.cyclestreets.net/mobile/

    pines for android version

  • very clever stuff. I've just downloaded the iphone app. it's the first site I've found that does automatic route planning for cyclists (as opposed to the laborious process of mapping a route on Bikely, say), and then lets you export to GPS so you can use on a Garminz or whatever. yet to try it on the road, though.

  • For those who don't know, cyclestreets uses mapping data from the OpenstreetMap project.

If the map's wrong, feel free to go to openstreetmap.org and change it!

Yes, their map is editable by all and sundry.

  • Bump. Just discovered cyclestreets last week when I got my first GPS device. Really loving it. Been commuting by bike in London for years and always use main roads. But using some of these routes is like riding through a village or something. See parts of the city I'd never seen before and also the wealth of quiet roads and cycle routes. Less noise, less pollution, fewer traffic lights etc. You can't get a speed on as there are so many little turns but the overall journey time is much the same as main roads.

Went from SE26 to E17 yesterday. Export .gpx, load in device and off you go. Would definitely recommend it. Never realised there was such a rich cycle path network.
