For Sale: Rare ~1948 Stronglight Cranks Type 45 49a

Immaculate condition pair of ~1948 Stronglight Type 45 (often mistaken for Stronglight Type 49). They are solid forged from "High Resistance Steel".

These cranks are as rare as hens teeth, and since I bought them over a year ago, I have only seen one other set, ever, over on e-bay.fr.

The cranks fit British cottered BB axles (I can provide one of correct length for most vintage and modern track hubs) and the pedal threads are British threaded (i.e. current standard pedals)

The cranks are designed for a single chainring for track or road use. However, they could be used as two or three speed on the road with an adapter. I'm sure the likes of Hillary Stone could oblige in sourcing one.

The condition of these cranks can only be described as brilliant; They have been re chromed using the more durable "Triple Plate" method. All original chrome plating was removed in such a way as to retain all the original detail. The job was undertaken by classic car specialist "Silvabronz", who have over 20 years experience in dealing with priceless antiques, car/bike parts and other valuables.
In the interest of being honest about the condition, There is a small (<1mm x <3mm) flake in the chrome on the non-drive-side crank, up at the cotter pin-way. This is so small, and would be covered by the washer on the cotterpin, that it is not worth worrying about. Also, because of the triple plate method, I believe that there is no steel exposed despite the small flake, and the crack is unlikely to expand.

All the threads are English, and in perfect condition, and the cotter fixings are fine too.

pictures (attached, and high res) speak for themselves, I think.

    I am looking for £130

Collection from a location in London to be negotiated (I don't live in London, but come up for various reasons, usually once a week-ish, late evenings. Alternatively, you can collect them from me, I live in Fleet in Hampshire, a nice days return trip out of town and back, or I could post at your expense, insured etc.

Again, these are rare, and do not come up for sale often(ever?)

I understand that this will not appeal to most people on here, but there will be some interest, I hope.

    Thank you for reading,

    Alistair.
