Just go clipless, nothing compares.

mtb shoes are fine, go clipless
not sure why you would fall over all the time unless you are a murtle alias

I'm looking for good shoes/trainers to cycle in. Most ordinary trainers have too much sole flexion, and I don't want to wear clips or so-called 'clipless' shoes as they are a bit kinky and I'd fall over all the time. I have only found one brand of clip-free cycle shoes - http://www.quocpham.com/ . Does anyone have any experience of these, and can they be recommended? Are there other makes out there that I have failed to unearth?
HTFU and get used to clipless. You'll soon stop falling over.

i think the op is concerned about his problems with walking in clipless shoes, possibly something to do with the inverse high heels

I dunno, I think he might enjoy it \/

Yes, everyone who wears clipless shoes walks like they've cacked themselves, which in addition to the lycra and padded arse is just great. But I'm also regularly in the position of having to get a foot down NOW or end up on my arse. I've not fallen off this bike yet and I'd like to keep it that way!

you truly are an idiot

try these..

otherwise, skate shoes will give you a stiffer sole, which won't bend as much.. -

and they look fucking hideous

Smart enough to know I don't want to be attached to my bike. I was pushed off my last bike and robbed at knifepoint - the last thing I want is to be attached to the bike some stabby cunt is trying to take off me.
Hoping of course that a repeat of the situation is unlikely - but insured against the possibility...

are you riding fixed or ss?

are you riding fixed or ss?
Single speed, but thinking of going fixed as I'm currently on 46/16 and finding it a bit on the light side, but freewheels don't seem to come much smaller.
-
• #16
so if you are strapped in riding fixed how will that make it any more easy to get a foot down?
do you actually know what you are talking about
clipless is easier to get out of than clips and straps

agreed

Oh, I see where you're coming from. I don't have clips/straps either; I had them on my old bike but hated them. I just have pedals.

In answer to your original question, Quoc Pham shoes are bloody lovely.
But if you are going fixed you will need foot retention. Clipless is the way to go. MTB rather than road though.

It'll also make your pedalling far more efficient, so that 46/16 won't feel 'light' any more, but 'fast' instead.
-
• #21
and you can then pedal away from stabby stabby cunts
-
• #22
Wen, you really need to try clip less before writing it off.
Just use an MTB or Touring shoe and the cleat will be recessed so you can walk or put foot down with no risk of slipping.
Combine that with something like an egg beater pedal which is very easy to unclip and you would be fine. -

When you fall your feet intuitively come out of the straps or clipless pedals. Trust me, I fall a lot.

hi wen, if you like the chrome shoe - you should have a look at these.
http://www.missionworkshop.com/footwear.phpthey're the same guys who did chrome but with more experience. This shoe took them 4 years of development. (disclaimer - I did some work for them, but haven't tried the shoe) however I know DJ got a pair - maybe he'll give an opinion?
failing that Quoc does lovely shoes.. he did this collaboration with us for Tweed Run, and I know he does commissions if youre that way inclined.

^ actually taken aback that they made adult ones. For ppl with special needs - great idea IMO.
