Every DIY shop has special nuts M5 for that purpose.
When 1st LOOK pedals came out, no shoe was prepared.
So, together with each set of pedals, you got 2 cleats, bolts, washers and 6 of these nuts. Besides that, a drilling template.Just insert these into your shoe soles from the inside.
Use a hammer to fix them.Oh, before I forget...
For EU size 42-2/3 this doesn't work.
I give you a tenner. -

Oh, wow. Nice.
They're 41 1/3 so I guess it'll work ;)
The soles are very stiff, wooden looking things with no holes where the look cleats will go. Do I just hammer through them?

Drill first, before hammering, to fit the t-nuts.

Don't kill the Kittens!
Sell them to me and I'll use them with toeclip cleats... -

I assumed that the soles were already drilled, just the nuts were missing.
Of course there should be a 6mm-ish hole for every nut in the correct position. -

Hmmm.... strange. Drilling them won't be a problem anyway.
Just went to 2 hardware shops and homebase and none of them had a clue. Found them on the web though so maybe I'll have to order online.
Thanks for your help.

Just to check, if ordering online - it's M5 I should be ordering, right?

Almost sure it's M5 but to be sure measure the bolts of the cleats.

Seriously, what is wrong with you?
Why buy NOS merckx shoes, for clips and straps and then try and make them work with clipless?!?
Buy some modern shoes or use the pedals they where designed for!

The uppers may tear off the plastic sole also as these shoes are likely designed for the toe strap to take much of the load.

Maybe he wants to combine SPD-R with straps ?

That's it. I've just bought myself a pair of clipless pedals with clips.

I wasn't fooling you.
Real track sprinters like the combination of SPD-SL with straps. No clips though. -

Wow, you've got a few quid int ya.
I have a pair of the olds Adidas Merckx cycling shoes, they had toe-clips cleats on them originally.
I took the old cleats off to see if there was any way of fitting some look cleats. The soles are drilled for them, but have no plate to screw into, nor does there seem to be a way to get a plate in (the soles are stuff, wooden looking things that are sealed in.
Does anyone know if there's a way round this? It seems strand that they're drilled for cleats yet there's no way of fitting them.
Here's some pics of them:
Also, here's a site I found where somebody mentions 'doing the look conversion', so there must be some way...?

Any help would be awesome, really want to use them but don't really wanna ride with toe clip cleats.
