Quickie - cable rub

Sorry guys - quick query
New carbon roadie, can already see beginnings of cable rub on the side of the steerer after 50 miles. Pretty sure it is routine but wanted to know what people would use to protect the lacquer/frame. Thought about puncture patches?

New bikes are usually delivered with a sheet of transparent stickers to protect your frame. Ask your LBS nicely and they'll give you one.
