I can post you a couple of mallets heads for the cost of P&P if you like. There's perma-roadworks outside my work, which have yielded a bit more than I can use. What length head do you like?
~Edit~
Maybe fire me a PM as well as / instead of replying to this, just in case I never find the thread again.

I'm pretty sure someone has noticed this before but tfl have an interactive map which displays where road works are happening or planned to happen.
It displays what type they are and what the planned work is.
Might be useful in finding pipe.

That map is great,
I just managed to grab about a foot of yellow of oxford street works but I was lucky to get it,
its a bit conspicuous getting it this time of day. -

I just asked nicely when they were digging Old Broad St up and the workman there gave me an offcut.
One day I may even make a mallet with it. Who knows? -

Got pipe, no trade needed. Got it from under Newington Causeway, just asked the workmen for some and they said to help myself.

me too, but i sure got some funny looks from the police com support
I've got myself some ski poles but don't have any pipe and can't seem to find any road works.
I've got 2 spare ski poles, I'd rather swap for a couple of foot of pipe than sell them.
The pipes have a kink at the top but they are 120cm and 97cm (38inches) is straight.
I'm in London and can meet anywhere central (not beyond zone 3).
