  • Hi all,

does anybody have any information about Ken Bird - his frames/work parts used in his era.........

I bought one of his bikes 2 years ago in really good condition but have just collected it from the shared house where I used to live - it was left under the "watchfull" eye of the landlord who is a good friend but it would appear not watchfull at all......anyhow a devious little cock who lived there just after me as stripped the bike and left just the frame and forks - he has taken cinelli bars, suntour groupset as well as everything else.........to top the lot he left owing money and has gone to ground.

So I would like to restore the best that I can but having searched the almighty google all I have found is Ken Bird's obituary.

Can anyone help in anyway, anything that I can find out will be a great help.

    Many thanks.

  • What more do you need to know? You've got a frame and forks, now free of a crap groupset. Update it...

  • I hate to disparage anyone, especially with fabricated 'evidence', but Ken Bird spent much of the late 1980s sexually humiliating me.

    Something about 'peckers'...

  • Should have sent him a bill.

  • Or had him up before the beak...

  • Did he goose you?

  • What a tit.

  • Did he goose you?

No, but he storked me for years.

  • Still, you don't seem too bittern about it.

  • Admittedly for all his sexual boasts he was swift.

    • plus he had a small cock.

    (sorry).

  • Light as a feather, clearly.

  • I love Peter Griffin.
    :)

YouTube- Family Guy - Bird is the Word!

  • So I now know that he was a pervey twitcher......maybe I missed a trick there??

True enough but wanting to be a "sympathetic" restoration.......

  • Judging by all of your comments here you are all middle aged pot bellied men who never had the same success in the industry as my father did. I doubt very much you would have made the same comments to his face if he where alive today.

I do actually have full sets of decals for the restoration of my fathers frames but these have and will go to more deserving and respectful people.

    Regards

    Simon Ken Bird

  • Awkward!

  • Platini and Tynan are no longer the middle aged pot bellied men they were in 2010.

    And welcome SKB.

  • Any relation to Alec Bird, frame builder?

  • ^Brothers, not friends. Alec was a great frame builder, so long as you kept an eye on him; Ken built the greatest wheels in the world (according to Ken) and charged a bloody fortune, in fact they were no better than any other competent builders wheels.

  • I can very honestly say that I am a middle aged pot bellied man who never had as much success in the industry as SKB's Dad. He speaks the truth.

  • SKB: ever get the feeling the internet may just be made up of lots of people, not all of whom are those two extremely irreverant people, who no longer post on this forum? I can understand being angry at one or two of those comments, but I would suggest you either approach this bit of the internet with a thick skin, or not at all. Did you notice that you dredged up a rather old thread? Was it the only one that came up when you searched fir 'Ken Bird'? Your withdrawn offer of decals seems a little babyish. I hope you can learn more about how this forum may be a place that you feel welcome in, cos it's a really brilliant force for good in lots of aspects of cycling, including restoration and appreciation of great frame-, wheel- and bike-builders.

Welcome to the forum. Try again.
