has anyone got any tips on stripping and re-painting carbon wheels?
well, this wheel! There are some websites, that i can't find atm that tell you howto, general idea is to use a very fine sandpaper and stop as soon as you get to the actual CF, its dangerous to try and use any type of stripper as it will also damage the resin that was used in the layering up of the CF
So, v fine paper + time + care + luck

I would've been getting my mate to walnut shell shot blast it. Since it looks like it's being sprayed with a rattle can, it wouldn't take much effort.

• #18
okay, ill do a bit of reasearch and have a look.
cheers guys -

No worries. If you do go for the manual approach i would recommend using wet&dry (wet). But finish off the difficult parts with a medium-coarse Scrotchbrite pad (a bit like the rough side of those green and yellow kitchen sponges). Take your time too.

That wheel is not carbon
Its a Spengel.. made from composite you can just rattle can it. -
• #22
true, it is actually composite josh, not fully carbon.
the same sanding rules will apply though, just use wet+dry, then paint and sand it again for a nice smooth finish then paint it a couple more times.
Tri spoke carbon front wheel, 700c tub rim. spins true and well. Bad paint job, looking for £50.
