  • Hill Climb Race
Friday 3rd September, 6PM meet up at the Bullring steps by the church.

£2 entry fee. Winner gets most, second gets some, third gets enough for a pint/bag of crisps (dependent on turnout!)

Sponsored by Spinwell and Sprocket Cycles so far!

I'll be printing some flyers and posters and putting them in bike shops and ting around town soon.

This is the first one i've done, so any suggestions/help are more than welcome! Let me know if i've forgotten anything!

  • Nice one, glad you're doing this...

I'm fucking pathetic at hills but I'm still definitely doing this, seriously hope we get a better turn out than the last alleycat.

@Ben - that DFL is mine this time, fight you for it.

  • Sick, nuff respec Thom. Is this for fixed/ss only or can it be done on gearz?

  • and which hill?

  • fixed/ss only yeah.

As for the hill, it's 3 of them! 2 multi storey carparks and the final stage up a big hill.

We won't get beef from security because we won't be in there long enough for them to catch us!

If anyone manages to kill a security guard, they automatically win all the money and prizes!

  • speaking of prizes, I mentioned you were planning a race to Laurence who won the Canalleycat and he said he wants to donate/freecycle some stuff that he won in that race.

Why is it only £2? I'm happy to lose £3...

On the 'hills' - are you having someone at the start and finish line to adjudicate? Or do we race up and back down?

Please let the 'big hill' be twenty laps of Hill St - Pinfold St - Navigation St loop...

  • I'll post rules etc nearer the time..

Thanks for all the help and support too guys!

  • I'm also working on a colabo with M C Esher for a stage that's a never ending uphill climb..

  • The Bike Foundry are sponsoring the event too!

  • Spoke to the wife and have booked this day on the calander. I know you can say it "under the thumb". Looking forward to this event.

  • Please let the 'big hill' be twenty laps of Hill St - Pinfold St - Navigation St loop...

    Too much crossroad right-turn involved!

  • If only mucklow hill was closer.
    Want.

  • Will be doing my damnedest to attend this. The question is do I do it on the low geared polo bike or the massively geared fixed????

  • depends really. pushing a low gear with a high cadence will tax your cardiovascular systems more, but you will recover quickly from that. pushing a big gear will fatigue you quicker 'cause there'll be more anaerobic respiration involved, which takes longer to recover from. but with only 3 hills to climb, quick recovery might not be important. if you can get on top of your big gear and get the revs up you'll obviously get up each hill quicker.

  • It's going to be up and down!

  • shouldnt it be called the 'hill climb and descent' then? ;-)

  • shouldnt it be called the 'hill climb and descent' then? ;-)

Yes but I couldn't fit it on the flyer!

  • if you can get on top of your big gear and get the revs up you'll obviously get up each hill quicker.

I think with a double portion of Bananas just before I'll mash the big gear option.

  • and coffee? two double espressos should get you going

  • btw ensure proper carb loading for the few days prior to the event, and also lose as much weight as possible from bike & body. in other words, eat nothing but bread, pasta and potatoes, have a good shit just before the race, cut all your hair off and ride naked & brakeless

  • and try amphetamines if you havent already

  • Don't give away your trade secrets Pastry!

  • Hoping to come over and be a spectator. Sounds like fun :)

  • Copper!

  • I'd have loved this, but I'm in london all day.

I'd have put up a prize too.........
