• Opposite Leather Lane, on Clerkenwell Rd, 2pm

Middle-aged bloke, ginger hair, suit and grey Dahon fold-up. Apparently face-planted, looks like no car involved.

I was browsing the magazines stall, heard a metallic scraping sound, guy was heaped on the floor next to the curb, helmet still on, not really moving. I looked to see if there were any cars but none had stopped. A few peds and a cyclist had already stopped to see if this guy was OK, somebody was on the phone to an ambulance. By the time I crossed the road, the bloke was sat up and talking, and a woman was holding up her fingers etc. I went over and asked another woman who had stopped what had happened, asked her if car was involved, she said she didn't see one and he just seemed to fall of his own accord, 'faceplanted' she said. She said she'd check with the others that had stopped to see if they had seen a car and to get their details as witnesses if they had.

From what I heard, it sounded like maybe his pedal struck the kerb? I left the scene since I didn't see anything and an ambo had been called, and there were other folk there still checkin he was OK. He seemed pretty shaken and a bit confused, but he had been wearing a helmet and I couldn't see any marks on him or owt.

  • Hard to tell if it was pedal strike or not. Hopefully, it was just an unfortunate fall and he will recover.
