Russell- Cooke in Putney are good for TFL debacles.
Managed to argue my case against TFL which prevented an over £1000 fine and a potential fraud conviction, without going to court- for £250.
Best £250 I've ever spent. -

Best £250 I've ever spent.A friend of mine used to work for Russell-Cooke and I've used them ever since and have always been very happy with the service they provide.
Good thread DJ.

what the hell were you accused of doing?!
Deliberate, fraudulent tampering of an Oyster card with the intention of avoiding paying fares.
or something like that.
My anger didn't help.
The day before I'd topped it up, so the news that i'd lost a 10er was smarting when I found out (thanks to the ticket inspector- the driver waved me on) that it was broken.
something I was later accused of doing deliberately. -

I'm currently being represented by Russell Jones and Walker, the only reason a payout is taking so long is the defendants are stretching it out, forms have been sent off to take it to county court, should hear something by the middle of september at the latest.
Nothing but good things to say about them, my solicitor has been clear, communicative and the only thing that has slowed down the process is me being on the other side of the world..
Hopefully a larger than anticipated payout should be making its way to me... -

Could we make this thread sticky perhaps?
Or put this and What To Do After An Accident into a "legal" area possibly?

I had help from Levenes following an acident when the driver denied any liability. It took time but on seeing the weight of evidence his insurers saw sense. Enos there was a star, really helpful, pointed out all the potential pitfalls and was there to explain some of the more annoying aspects of the whole process.
They were recommended by the LCC and I'd recommend them myself.

I've been represented by by Leigh, Day and co twice now. Had payouts on both occasions but this has been through British Triathlon and British Cycling membership.

Oliver Jeffcott for the mfing win
When dealing with the car that rear ended me in December 2009 he noticed on my hospital record the crash where I was hit by a van driver who was not paying attention on a roundabout in 2008.
A claim was put in and today the drivers insurance company have offered to settle. The driver had been prosecuted for driving without due care so not much to contest.
Fantastic work, and a reminder that it is worth making these claims.

Just lodged a case with Leigh, Day & Co. thanks to British Triathlon. Really nice guys; MUCH more helpful, friendly and sympathetic than the Police so far (who said not to bother reporting the accident as I didn't think to get the drivers details WHILE I WAS INJURED AND IN SHOCK! cough). Hope to get something out of this 'cause my bike is a bit of a mess and it's gonna cost.

When buying my house lsat year, on the say so of Sainsburys Ed, I used Gisby Harrison to do the conveyancing. They were nothing but helpful, a big thumbs up from me.
BTW, when I was looking for info and used this as a start point: http://www.lfgss.com/thread16132.html
Not exactly the same thread, but some useful stuff there as well.

Anyone used Slater and Gordan or Fentons?

S&G are the CTC default. Worked for me, but for low value stuff, and I've only ever spoken to Legal Execs who are quite far down the chain, and require a bit of nagging from time to time.

S&G took over Russell Jones & Walker but I don't know if they've retained the cycling specialism.
I used S&G for advice on my redundancy - a pretty standard package of advice, delivered quickly and clearly.

I have had great help from Oliver Jeffcott (an lfgss member http://www.lfgss.com/member9547.html) with a couple of legal cases involving cycling, and he has also helped out a few friends as well.
I was wondering if we should have a list of solicitors that lfgss members have used and who have been helpful and resourceful in helping resolve claims.
Not sure if this should be added Roxy's thread on accident advice or if it should be squirreled away under Rider Down.
Oliver works for Bolt Burdon Kemp if anyone wishes to google them.
Perhaps people could also add the kinds of information that will help Solicitors resolve cases quickly.
