  • "Swift cycling cyclist shocker!", is a shoe-in: a friend of mine made the front page, on account of having an allergic reaction to a bee sting...

  • ^ Seconded.

Isn't it a bit more complicated, when you take the legs into account: sure I read something about closing the gap between the legs being more effective.

I think the round post tested faster than the Mike Burrows 'aero' post on the Team ONCE Giants, but maybe on the TCR not the super-long post on the MCR, and at that level of detail it might not be the same for all riders.

  • I had to use a bladed post for a bit because my fat sprinter's thighs were rubbing on my round one. #csb
(think my saddle was too far back, can't remember. I imagine my legs are larger now and I no longer have an issue)

  • Kerob put a USE post on it and it looked crap, Double tris and thomson is totally HHSB anyway

  • just finished putting together this to replace my now long-gone (broken) Condor Stadio that was earlier in this thread…

  • Beautiful...

  • Debatable...

What is the wear like on Crabon teeth?

  • Can I have crabon teeth for my next birthday, please, they would make me much lighter without the need to watch my diet.

.... And of course the teeth on that chainring aren't crabon, you daft bugger!

  • .... And of course the teeth on that chainring aren't crabon, you daft bugger!

Yes they are, assuming it's a Fibrelyte. Never seen anybody complaining about unreasonably short service life on them.

  • Blimey, thought it must be one of those with the alloy teeth (which have been known to detach), had no idea all-carbon rings had been created, I stand (or sit) corrected!

  • Daft buggers all round...

  • Debatable...

pretty good on a fixed, 3000 miles or so which ona TT bike is pretty much forever unless you're riding a '100' every weekend..

  • most week days I use a 18km closed path to train, when I'm not training sprint drills I do a 35km TT with road bars and I would like to change it to a TT bar setup. What would you guys recommend? Nothing fancy/costly...

  • Deda clip ons are nice, any old base bar will do cos you shouldn't be using it much. Zipp alumina are nicer but more money

  • Whose bike is that? The huge drop and Xentis remind me of Ben Instone

  • Cammish's from when he was at PX in 2009

  • What kind of saddle/bb setback do you guys use? Uci legal 5cm or more of a forward tri one? Which is faster for you?

  • I'm well back, easily UCI legal, but some people sit forward. We can't tell you which will be faster for you.

  • Tnx, I meant faster for you btw. I read for duathlon and tri saddle forward makes you stress the same muscles as for running and is advised for short distances to make the swap less traumatic. I know it is also more aerodynamic in general but produces less power. Pros always sit so forward that could easily do with less than the legal 5, but they have gears. Was wondering if fixed gear has any impact on the setup making you prefer more backward positions to push harder at low rpm

  • I have a forward "tri" position because historically I've primarily raced triathlons. I've never experimented much so I can't comment how adjusting the position on the TT bike changes things but I appear to put out considerably more power in the TT position than the road position (which is, I think, unusual).

  • Maybe you never gave it enough time to get used to. Since I've been using a more forward position with a zero setback, I feel way more comfortable on the tri bars and my marbles hurt far less, but I can't replicate the same times as before.

  • Will this take part of the family too?

  • I need a little advice on frame sizing for my first bike to run aerobars.

    Background;
    I've got a road bike which was fitted to me by The Bike Whisperer;
It's a size small, using a 100mm (Tester dustcap) slammed stem and compact bars.
    (Geo Chart).

I figure starting with a cheap frame is sensible so I've been looking at the Dolan Pre Cursa.

I've compared the geometry charts of my road bike to both the 50 and 52 and calculated the reach and stack (As attached).
Please note the fork length and rake is copied from my road bike as I'll be buying frame only and haven't yet decided on which fork will be used.

The reach of both frames is longer than my road bike I assume this shouldn't necessarily an issue as the fit triangle will be rotated forward.

The difference between both sizes realistically comes to stack and the degree difference in head tube length.

Would those of you with better knowledge of such things make a recommendation between either size or "Secret Option C - none of the above).

    Thanks in advance.
