• I'm selling this 1950s Path Racer frame & forks.

    Tubing: Reynolds 531
    Seat tube: 54cm ctt
Top tube: 55cm ctc (will double check tonight)
    Head tube length: 112mm
    Rear spacing: 110mm

    • Drilled front & rear, with mudguard eyes front & rear too.
    • Lovely curved rear brake bridge, typical on Holdsworth & Viking frames of that era.
    • Bottom bracket & headset cups are not included.

I'm 90% sure it's a Holdsworth, although there is a possibility it could be a Viking. If it is a Holdworth the seat stays date it to 1957, but the serial number dates it a bit earlier. So I'm guessing at 1956. The Nervex Pro lugs mean it could be a Cyclone, or a later Zephyr. It's all very confusing, this is all info I've found from help on forums, trawling the internet etc so if anyone can shed any light on it then that would be great.

The chap who I bought it off got it in its original condition, and said he could kind of make out a W & a V on the decals, but now it's been re-sprayed by Bob Jackson in bright yellow. The paintwork is really nice, very vibrant and in very good condition. The tubing's all fine, there's a very VERY tiny ding on the seat tube halfway down, I'll add a pic of that but it really is tiny.

It's a very nice frame, if you're in London then feel free to come and have a look. I'm in Stoke Newington N16.

£250 ONO in fantastic conditon with pretty fresh BJ enamel job.

  • Blenkin, please read the classifieds rules. Basically if you're putting the bike up on other sites (such as retrobike) then don't put it up here.

We don't run this site on the same basis as other sites. We're about the community first and foremost and that means that the classifieds are 'amongst friends', which basically means something like "hey, I've got this for sell and you guys can get a chance to buy it before I advertise it elsewhere". Which translates to... if you've put it up elsewhere then the trade isn't amongst friends, in which case this perhaps might not be the best site to put it.

  • Sorry I didn't realise that, I assumed that was auction sites you were talking about in the rules.

    I'll take it off retrobike.

    Apologies.

  • Friday price drop. £250 ONO.

  • Hello there

    2 things for now-

    Are they zeus forks ?

Do you have the respray reciept ?

    CHeeeeeerrrsssssss...

  • Hi,

Not sure about the forks, they're the original forks, that's all I know. They're stamped with the same serial as under the bb. I don't know how I would be able to tell if they're Zeus or not... any ideas?

I don't have a receipt for the respray I'm afraid. I can ask the chap I bought it from, he got it resprayed not me. You're welcome to come and have a look at it if you're nearby. I'll try and get the receipt.

  • chancertime - were you interested in this?

  • hi wblenkin

I've just bought a raleigh as a project so I'm too busy but thanks.

  • Hmmmm... Was it the one which went for 472 on eBay?

I was thinking exactly the same thing. I was tempted to stick a bid in... it was a tad too small, even for me!

  • One that got away from me, I think Jim put in a PM offer and seller was willing to end it at 300, overlooked that and when I realised it, the price was already pass the 200 quid mark which at that point I dont think the seller would end it. But I still put in a bid, a tad shy of 300 but yeah, should have paid a little more attention to the EB/CL page...

There's another Raleigh I currently have my eye on, owner unwilling to sell, but I have asked for first DIBS if he does... Skip find btw! LOL!

    Track or road?

My current project is a Raleigh track, it's at BJs getting resprayed. Can't wait to get it back... it's been a long process already.

  • Track and it does need a new coat of paint and might go for the Ti-Raleigh look if I get my hands on it. It's one of those bike which you grew up always wanting one but couldn't afford it then.

I am also trekking down a Cinelli track bike which was a permanent fixture at my LBS and subsequently sold for peanuts when I was away. It was used as a training bike by one of the Commonwealth teams.

A long long long shot and it was full Cinelli/Campy with the old school steel stem (without a lock bolt with a clamp on the fork threads holding it it place) and very sought after LA bars (chopped). Little sketchy about it's current whereabouts, but it was sold to a former pro racer.

    Regards,
    Benjamin
