  • I was doing some aimless wandering this afternoon, and noticed that the old Threshers shop on Half Moon Lane opposite Oxfam has finally been gutted, and poster put in the window. It doesn't give any information, apart from the name 'Bon Vélo Llp' and a logo that looks like it belongs to a French holiday campsite circa 1993. I googled it, obviously, and all that came up was a listing for a bike shop belonging to the ACT. I was hoping it was going to be a bike cafe, oh well.

Anyone know anything about it? Sorry if its old news...

  • I can confirm that there will indeed be a bike shop opening there. I'm friends with the people behind this new venture and am sure it will be a great success. It's due to open october this year.

  • Cool, any idea what kind of bikes are they are going to focus on? Roadie bling or yummy mummy hybrids?

  • Awesome news, looking forward to it opening.

  • I'm not sure on exactly what kind of bikes they will be selling but I'm sure they will be focussing on high quality products and service from a friendly, approachable staff with years of bike experience.

  • Excellent, yet another new bike shop! I love this. So many openings.

  • ^sounds a bit rude.

  • Hmm, interesting! Hopefully it will be better than the sports shop next to Sainsbury's.

  • You would hope they will have a lot of track spares being so close to the velodrome

yeah - what is that place all about? It looks like it popped straight out of 1997.

  • *1997 in Belgium!

  • It looks as if the Bon Vélo crew will be able to get a shop up and running quicker than Pizza Express megacorp that has moved into the restaurant formerly known as Mela.

Good work. Will you sell Quatro Formaggi's until PE get their shit together?

  • Pizza Express opening in Herne Hill! No more walking to Dulwich Village for me!

  • a logo that looks like it belongs to a French holiday campsite circa 1993.

Heh, I've still got my Eurocamp junior passport, stamped with campsite stamps from all over France

Damn, I forgot those things. Eurocamp was fun.

  • Sometimes we went with Inn-Tent or Keycamp... I liked Eurocamp though because their tents were green and red and reminded me of living in big apples.

No idea, but I've never seen anyone in it!

Mashton - PE have been annoying their neighbours with building works at all hours of the day. I can't wait for the braying East Dulwich types (JC excluded) to descend...

Oh, and Bon Velo man is wearing Rapha in his Facestalk photos... reassuringly expensive?

  • Ooo, thanks for the notice, Konijn. Will be down to investigate Bon Vélo in due course...

  • living in the neighbourhood, i popped into herne hill bikes once to see if they had any white bar tape - the surly middle aged man behind the counter curled is lip with the contempt that could only be mustered by someone who last sold something during the Carter administration and mumbled that i'd be better off going to one of the trendy bike shops in east london where all the, and i quoth, 'hippy fixtsters seem to congregate'.

so i wee'd in his cup of tea and left.

  • The little guy with the goatee is pleasant enough, and has always been helpful and even offered discounts. The mechanic... I tend to start whistling* The Deliverance* music.

    We should do tea someday.

  • Will you two be spotted in the pedestrianised strip, outside Sesame complaining loudly about 'the black people' drinking outside destiny's?

  • catfood is in Herne Hill? Awesome, we have a new local friend... :]

Another LBS won't go amiss... I look forward to it...

    indeed! your place or mine?
