Pazazz stem?

Posted on
• I inherited a pazazz stem, I found their (shitty)website, but no reviews or anything, which is sometimes a bad thing. It seems pretty light if not pretty, and doesn't 'go' with any of my bikes. It looks like this-->

So, it is just their name that's shit?

• +

Your own branded stem!

seriously though what is this thread about? the stem works don't it?

• Yeah, I'm simply asking a question on a forum. Like every post in bike porn would be recieved in the same way if the bikes were a collection of parts the owners knew nothing about? They would? OK, I'll stick an Emelle in there with a random collection of shitty parts on it and simply bask in the admiration.

• Link to science article on AL 2014 properties

Your stem will be fine, probably
Cover it in tape if your worried about the aesthetics.

also they are described on other forums as 'el cheapo'....
probably a low end stem then.

• Interesting. I stupdily thought that was some kind of product code....

• although:

i can't find a strength comparison between aluminum alloys right now, but the second post in that thread is misinformed, slightly.

• I can't use Google, seriously, all I could find a couple of days ago was their website.
Thanks.

• Pazazz were known for making low end carbon stuff. Nothing wrong with em, just not top of the line stuff.

• the higher the grade he harder it is also the more difficulty there is in it's manufacture. That's what I remember hearing. Probably wrong though.

• Wei Hau Accessories, Taiwan, started in 1989 registered Pazzaz in 1997. In 2000 they started a motorbike arm.

Looks like a generic Taiwanese component manufacturer. There are thousands of them.

• Thank you.

I dislike advertising the bike divisions of generic Taiwanese component manufacturers while riding. So I'm thinking something in white would fit the bill, maybe an FSA OS-115 or Ritchey WCS 4-axis.

Although, this was free, I guess I'm becoming snobby.

• FSA are made in Taiwan.

Ritchey is almost certainly made in Taiwan. (Yep, Hsin Lung)

In fact, good luck finding components that aren't.

There is NOTHING wrong with Taiwanese bicycles/components.
Probably better than a lot of crack'n'fail-like US built stuff.

• If you want a similar shape, I guess the Deda Newton is a good match.

• Deda come out of, guess where? Yep.. Taiwan.

• If you don't like it because it's ugly ditch it. Can't see any other reason to do so.

• ok, so it's ugly. I'll get something prettier.
Are deda/fsa/ritchey etc. all divisions of larger parent manufacturing companies then? I am naive, does anyone only make bike stuff, not even in UK?

• Are deda/fsa/ritchey etc. all divisions of larger parent manufacturing companies then?

Not all of them, no.

Most bits of metal for bikes are made in far eastern countries.

There are a few companies that make their stuff at home (Hope, X-lite? probably more but I don't care to search)

• I dont think it looks that bad, not porn worthy but I kinda like it...

• Had this stem come on my Peason.

It holds the handlebars to the forks.

• You're lucky, I have heard stories of the handlebars suddenly falling off of those Peason bikes

• nvm
