i've dropped my iphone in a pint twice, and pored a third one on it. After a lot of drying, up to a week, it's amazingly come back to life again

+1 for resetting the PRAM once its dry.
If it's still fucked after then, may I ask what model it is? I have an old Powerbook with a dodgy hard drive or logic board. I'd like to fix to donate to my friend, who cannot afford another laptop and her PC one just died.

Thanks for all that..... back of the laptop awesomely hot.... could fry an egg on it...... might try that if it doesn't come back to life...... now..... where did I put that back-up CD........
p.s. A mate managed to drop his new iPhone down the loo in the pub, it nestled ontop of the pile of toilet paper and his Number Two...... and all was well :-)

Hope it's ok!

The key advice missing here is to remove your battery (obviously remove a power supply cord too) before putting it somewhere to dry.
Also, the longer it is allowed to dry without power, the better. Moisture can hang around for over a week and will permanently damage the board if the moisture shorts something because of power heading where it shouldn't.
OK, so I get caught in that thunderstorm, my bag gets a bit damp, and now my aging PowerBook G4 won't boot up..... makes the usual whirring noise.... then three 'duh-duh-duh'.... like an engaged tone on the phone..... and the screen remains blank...
Has it finally died?
