Pro-lite Bracciano wheelset

  • A bit OT... does anyone here have experience of these? I'm looking at a pair for my road bike and they seem a bit of a bargain, good reviews etc but don't know anyone who has first -hand experience. Cheers.

  • Looking for some new wheels and pretty tempted by some Pro-Lite Bracciano's....anyone running them or had them before? Just wondered whether they're sturdy enough for around London....

Also Spin, who do the lovely ti bikes and frames have some wheels for a similar weight/ price anyone had any experience of the spin components as they're fairly new?

Don't do any tricks or stuff, just for commuting and training round London, weigh about 92 kg though so want something pretty solid.

    Cheers for any advice

  • I did a season of 'cross on my braccianos. I smashed into lots of things week in week out and the only time they needed a very minor truing was when one got ridden over. I weigh 57kg though, so can't comment from that perspective. I liked them so much I bought another pair for my road bike though.

  • Thanks for the advice....Will definitely look into them!

  • Run Braccianos on my geared bike - have absolutely nothing bad to say about them. Light, stiff, strong and hubs spin forever. For what they are, a bargain.

  • Cheers Rab...
Can you suggest any nice light fixed/SS wheels which would be good for street riding too??

  • I'm no expert, but plenty of info here: http://www.lfgss.com/thread39040.html#post1252201

FWIW, of all the wheels I've been though in the last few years I'm currently very happy with a set built up by Arup here on the forum - Open Pro's, 3x on Gran Compe hubs. About as unflashy as you can get, but strong and comfortable and have only needed the smallest amount of truing.

  • Bracciano: currently £163 including delivery from Ribble (for the Shimano freehub version), if you enter 'pro40' at the checkout. That's a bargain, init?

  • Thanks again for the advice guys...very much appreciated!

They put the regular price up just before doing the discount, mine were £185 from there this winter. Still bargainous though, rare instance of cheap, light, and strong.

  • Thinking definite on the Bracciano's and have contacted Arup to sort out some F/SS...
    Cheers!

  • Longshot, but if anyone wants a sram/shimano freehub body for some braccianos (also fits stelvios and trevisos) I've got one to sell, <100 miles, as new:
