  • hey everyone
I was lucky enough to get hold of a bianchi pista via condotti in December, but am currently considering selling the frame (or potentially the whole build) and building a more trick orientated bike.

I was just wondering if anyone could give me a rough valuation for just the frame? And a possible price for the whole build? Here's a recent photo of the beast:

I'm hoping its in the same ball park as a Dodici Gara frame (or something similar), which i'm gagging to get my hands on :)

Thanks in advance for any help.
    Dave

  • 200 quid is what most Pista Framesets seem to go for on here

  • An alumnium frame for a trick orientated bicycle?

I don't even need to emphasised this.

  • Dodici Gara is a alu track frame with carbon forks, thats a sure fire disaster if you planning to do tricks and stuff on it.

  • Would never ride a alu 'track' frame for tricks but alu is ok for a trick bike if its designed for the job.

  • i think thats bullshit as the pk ripper was alu and designed for tricks and failed so so many times

  • i used to ride a high end reynolds alu hard tail mtb and regularly ride DH, and do 10ft + drop-ins and that held up fine. Plus the majority trials bikes are alu and they chuck those about a lot!

  • its not the rear end where you have problems though its always the front end that goes usually on the downtube, so with a hardtail your alrite as you have front suspension to soften the blow, and trials riders i agree do give there bike alot of abuse but they are generally quite smooth where as most fixed gear freestyle riders are anything but smooth

  • alu is OK - but carbon fork? Ouch..

  • I would still say that if the butting of the tubing and connections are designed correctly the alu would be fine for most trick riders (small step-drops and flatland tricks) and as you get better you get smoother so would hopefully conteract progression in size.

  • TBH most FGF Freestyle frames seem total overkill for the curb hoping that most riders seem capable of

  • Dodici do not make trick frames. If it's just the look you want then fine...

  • Thanks for the feedback on the Dodici issue, its been interesting to hear some of the info. Are there any similar frames then, all black, that would be recommended for trick stylee?

I'm not talking about throwing it off stair gaps or crazy jumps, but simply a stronger frame than the bianchi.

oh, and is that £200 valuation figure for this years Pista frames?

  • volume cutter in flat black
    sorted!

  • Your Bianchi is fine for what you describe, just change the fork.

  • i think thats bullshit as the pk ripper was alu and designed for tricks and failed so so many times

The PK Ripper was designed for racing, not tricks. As were Race Inc which failed even more times, are they actually any that didn't fail?

  • i meant the new pk ripper trick frame i cant remember what its called?

  • Oh yes, forgot they dared to call that the PK Ripper so good point.

Sorry, I am just a sentimental 80's BMX person :-)

  • RE: price - It's summer, it's hot and I've seen quite a few of those pistas around recently... ridden by some pretty cool ppl...

...so don't sell on here, leave complete, put white grips on, match the tyres, put it on ebay, put some effort into making a good listing.

  • Your Bianchi is fine for what you describe, just change the fork.

Even the fork on the Pista would be fine. I ran an old Peugeot conversion with a Pista front end and that last ok until the frame started to show signs of stress. I'd just stick a set of riser bars on it if I were you.

*Edit- Just saw that you have put risers on! If it's just the look you're going for then you might struggle to find what you're after without getting a heavy(ish) steel frame. I'm not sure many alu frames are built the shape you want them and will hold up to any extra forces they're not designed for.

  • alu is OK - but carbon fork? Ouch..

My 29er has a carbon fork, and I ride that pretty hard, so the carbon aspect would'nt bother me. A carbon road/track fork is a different kettle of fish all together though, I suppose. So I see your point.

  • Cross bikes have carbon forks too. I do whatever my abilities allow on mine and don't worry about the carbon fork at all.

Queue a follow up post next week telling of how I just broke my carbon fork...

  • Just wondering if you are still looking to sell the frame or even the whole set up? I would be very interested come payday....

  • What size is the frame?

  • would be interested in the wheels if u're selling + splitting
