Wasn't this sold for £215 on the forum a little while back? Have you done something other than ride it to increase it's value?
-
• #6
Yes, it was, I was lucky to get it for significantly less than what I think is its true value. It's a lovely bike, and I'm sad to have to sell it, but riding it has increased the amount of pain I've been getting in my knee, so I'm going to have to stick to gears until my knee problem is sorted. I actually think it's probably worth upwards of £300, and I certainly think £280 is a very fair price. If you were lucky enough to pick up a valuable work of art for £20 at a car boot sale would you feel constrained to sell it on for no more than you paid for it, or would you try to get its market value?
Cheers,
Andy

so someone here had the kind heart to sell it cheap on here, and you got yourself a bargain. Why not pass that bargain on to someone else?
Bet you were happy getting it cheap, why not make someone else just as happy?

There is NO hiding.

So you've rode 100 miles and the price has gone up?
What size is this?
-

Re the size - it's about 56cm, as I said in my first post, not 58/59.
Re everything else - I'm not trying to pull a fast one, I'm just skint.
I also think that it's still a real bargain at £280, I would have happily paid that for it when I bought it. You may think differently, that's fine.oh yes, (edit), I also had a £20 train fare to go and pick it up, so it cost me a bit more than the price

agree that 280 is a decent price for it, but it's cheeky trying to get more than you payed on here just 3 weeks ago
tbh, if you want as much money as possible I'd sell it on ebay or gumtree. Keep in mind ebay fees though

Look, I know it's a bit cheeky, and I thought twice before posting it, but I really need the cash, and I really do think it's still a bargain. I'd prefer to sell it to someone on here than get another £20 or £30 selling it on eBay. If I've upset or offended anyone I'm sorry.

£215 +£20 for your train ticket = £235. You've lost nothing and had a very stylish rental bike for free for the past couple of weeks :)
in all fairness it's your choice, but is a bit of a liberty buying something at a very good price and selling it back to the very people that allow you to get such a good deal, with the price jacked up.
Good luck though.

Why did you buy it in the first place if you're so skint ?
Oh....and if you're that skint you'll be pleased to get back what you paid less a bit of usage.

I would say put it on for what you paid with an honest explanation or close the post and put it on Ebay. Otherwise you are not playing by the forum rules which believe you me will not be forgotten round here quickly especially next time you decide to sell something even if it is at a good price or for a legitimate reason. I sold a few things to someone earlier this year which they flipped straight away which really annoyed me. In conclusion.....don't be a div.

Components
Forks - Don't know but mint, chromed and straight.
What type of mint are the forks made out of - are they polo mints or extra stong mints? They don't look straight, they seem to bend forwards at the bottom - maybe the mint was damaged when they were chromed?...

Instead of selling and sticking to gears, Andy, have you thought about dropping the gearing? You could sell your geared bike instead. :)
But seriously, have a look around at the various knee threads on here if you haven't already. There's also yoga as a possibility--really helps a lot (http://www.lfgss.com/thread31438.html). Presumably you've gone for physio? bluerip00's thread is for you: http://www.lfgss.com/thread29902.html
If your cartilage problem is really bad, I'd recommend staying off the bike for a while, anyway. (I know no-one ever does this--I didn't, either.) Do yoga/physio until you feel better. Good luck.

I think everybody's a bit more worried about what they're being asked to fork out.
I’ve only had this bike for a few weeks, and it’s a really lovely ride, but I’ve got cartilidge problems in my knee and riding a single gear is really aggravating them, plus I’m skint and need cash for a holiday, so with some sadness I’m putting it up for sale and reverting to geared riding only.
No idea what frame it is (the badge is from another bike) but the tubing is butted, its straight and it looks really nice. Size is about 56 cm. I'm 5ft 10" and it fits perfectly. Set up fixed at the moment but has a flip-flop hub.
A lot of the components were pretty much brand new when I bought it, and I’ve done no more than 100 miles on it since then.
Looking for £280.
