No toeclips?
I suppose White Industries ones? Though they are really designed for clips and straps.

i hate those small platforms where you have to be in the right carriage to get off the train
also is this a general topic or more bikes n bits?

Trains that stop and split in to 2 really fuck me up. Where you have to be on the right carriage or you end up in the wrong place.
And yes. Bikes and bits.

just moving this over from "general", accidentally placed in wrong section:
dudes
i'm having a pedal dilemma
my brand new build needs the perfect pedal/foot retension combo
my last everyday build i was using for about a year i was running SPD's
loved em, but hated that i couldn't just jump on my ride and go, really impractical sometimes, even though for longer-distances/touring i would never use anything but SPD's
before that i was riding with clips and straps - good at the time, but since using SPD's i just can't get my head around using clips again
so i decided to try using those lame Shimano A530 SPD's with the concave platform on the other side
they're alright, but not great
turns out, i really like the platform side - the grip is good but not over the top, they're small, light, blah blah blah
SO then i rode my friend's bike the other afternoon and he's using platforms and double straps, and BOOM - it clicked. so i've decided that for this ride, that's the way to gomy question is this - i've done buttloads of research into getting the perfect set of platforms, but all of em just seem SO massive - DMR's, wellgo's, crank brothers, all that shit. to anyone's knowledge, are there any platforms out there similar to the size and shape of the 'non-spd' side of the a530's, and ones that i could run double straps through? for someone who is used to road pedals, these things are just way too big AND, without sounding like a dick, would just look super out of place on this new bike.
and yes, before anyone on here asks, i know what google is and i have looked everywhere... just value forum users' opinions!

http://www.whiteind.com/pedal.htmlI think he wants toeclips & double straps.
But he seems to want some sort of pedal which is larger than MTB cages/MKS sylvans, similar to his old A530's but yet smaller than BMX type platform pedals.

I was hoping I could make it this week, but I don't think that's going to work out - too much shit on Thursday night when I'm in town.
Provided Thursday goes well though (job interview) it might become a weekly thing soon! -

maybe these. There are similar ones that can take hold fast style straps but the name escapes me right now

or any normal quill/cage and strap pedal?

Sylvans? (Sorry whoever this pic belongs to, just from google images)

I thought he was talking about jol-esque straps not toeclips, hence talking about dmr's etc.
http://www.sourcebmx.com/product/bmx-racing-products/bmx-racing-components/bmx-racing-drivetrain/pedals/sinz-mini-platform-pedals/2028.shtml
Wasn't there also talk of a jol type strap(possibly the man himself?) being prototyped for normal quill/track pedals? -

exactly edmunro - that's what i'm talking about.
you reckon those mini platforms are any good?
they look like a good concept, but i question them -

1+ it's even worse for me when I couldn't hear the announcement, end up in fucking Basingstoke instead of Wimbledon because the train didn't stop there despite the little LED screen told me they will.

^ Coming home from Amsterdam a few years ago, half a train's-worth of ferry passengers went the wrong way because of this

Shimano DX's are about the smallest adult sized pedals I've seen and look sick, DMR's are actually fairly small too. These may be to large, but they are wafer thin, pretty cheap (sealed), lightish and from a british company: http://fatalitybmx.bigcartel.com/product/seventeen-pedals

not quite what you were asking for but the platform on the a530's looks very similar to mks gr9's
EDIT: just saw you don't want to use clips

Almost every bmx pedal made. All shapes and sizes. Premium Slims look fancy, but not sure if you mean small in that dimension.
Are you familiar with the JOL straps or whatever and the like? Much better suited than running doubles without cages on bmx platforms...

I am in exactly the same situation! I've had it with my massive Wellgo's which keep cutting up my leg when I walk my bike...
Anyway yesterday in cambridge I saw the absolute perfect set of pedals, i tried to get a close look but in was in secure bike parking, which is very secure and I soon had someone shouting at me..
The logo on them was sort of like a DB - possible diamond back, or it cold have been BB or DD.
Their black and probably about 2/3 of the size of normal BMX pedalsGood luck in finding them
