  • Video seems unreal!

Like out of Zoolander or Bruno.

  • I want to stand on the sidelines, throw pork pies at them and bellow, "FOR SHAME! FOR SHAME!"

  • it's kinda cool though, no?

  • I'm not sure, Teddy. They're taking something that feels like it's 'ours', turning it into high fashion, high fashion will filter down to low fashion, and eventually council estates in Leeds and Durham will be filled with Tweed clad Chavs on Unipacks setting fire to dogs and sniffing speed from the end of tyre levers.

Let's keep in a bit more exclusive.

eeek, feels like ours?!! we're the ones who ripped off track racers' bikes, messengers' clothes, posties' bags, cafe racers' rides and bmxer's tricks. we haven't made anything here, we've sort of picked and chosen from various cultures and assembled them into our own. and fixie culture sort of lost that niche caché a few years ago, no? i mean, don't get me wrong... hanging out and riding bikes is good fun. it's just not that exclusif (pretentious french pronunciation) any more.

we're also constanstly complaining that we can't find good gear for cycling in. granted the moncler stuff is going to be expensive, but more options = more choice. maybe this will push cycle clothes designers to expand their repertoire a bit. personally -- and here i have to caveat that i that ride around in tweed suits and brogues so maybe i'm not quite the norm -- i'd rather see smart, well-designed clothes that worked well on the bike than yet another version of a riding hoodie.

ahem. i don't actually know why i'm ranting. i mean, for fuck's sake, i just wrote a rant about clothes. i clearly need to be out on my bike...

  • I'm not really on about the bike culture thing - that's already become fahionable and perhaps can be seen to be fading away already.
I'm on about sharp dressing/tweed attire awheel. I want people to dress in respectable clothing whilst riding lovely bicycles because it looks smashing, it makes sense and is surprisingly practicle, not because it's a fashion statement.

On the other hand, you have a point about more options a nd more choice. Perhaps this is a sign of a longer term cycling revolution, and these styles are here to stay.
    Let's hope so!

  • To be fair moncler has always been a sporting brand so its not like they're ripping off bike culture, they're just branching out a bit. The Wagner style reinterpretation of "I want to ride my bicycle", now that was just awesome.

  • I love it.

and @ Teddy - massive +1. (then again i spend much of my time ranting about clothes...)
