Each day (avg):
[*]£11 in donations
11.5k active members = £11/day in donations
That's 110 people each doing the £3 per month "buy the forum a beer" donation.
110 people out of 11,500.
0.9% of active members are regular donors.
That is a shockingly low number.

Not really... the average doesn't reflect the occasional spike in donations. Whilst the regular donations only make up 1/2 of the monthly costs, when things do get bad and I ask for donations we get a sudden spike which can bring in several months worth of donations in one go. I've calculated the average over the last 12 months and in the last 1 month the average is closer to £27 per day, but this is due to a spike mid-month when I appealed for some help, and that has put us back into the black. I didn't want to give that average though as it doesn't reflect the norm, that would just reflect the spike.
The difference between donations and costs has usually been covered by a combination of: SJS, affiliate click-throughs, and me. Though since I mentioned that in place of SJS we would run a single advert slot in the banner, there has been so much interested in this that I suspect that the single advert slot would comfortably cover nearly all costs in the future even whilst only charging peanuts to most advertisers (it will have a dual economy, if you're an independent cycling business with a presence on the forum you will pay peanuts, and if you're not then you will pay something between peanuts and regular commercial rates).

Interesting stuff. Shame to donations don't cover the costs..
We passed another milestone today, the site is still growing (it's never stopped growing) but I don't have great records of the rate of growth because I pay so little attention to the numbers.
The numbers are fascinating though... here are a few.
Totals:
Each month (avg):
Each day (avg):
Miscellaneous:
During registration, 10% bail with every page in the registration process
Bear in mind that we changed from londonfgss.com to lfgss.com only 6 months ago, and that wipes out all history as well as breaking all simple pagerank from in-bound links.
The numbers really just say this place rocks. Now, where's my boat?
