  • Thanks that sounds like it - but I am now back in SW london (without transport!)....
Dunno if its worth Brick lane-ing it tomoz!!!

  • I've also just had my Charge Plug nicked from outside the Britannia Pub In Victoria Park.

It's the blue model but i'd changed the wheels (Velocity Deep V white), Saddle (BLB, White), Chain and rear hub (er... you guessed it white), pedals and foot clips (white leather) and the grips on the bull horns to white as well.

Continental gatorskin tyres front and rear.

Finally - apologies of this post is in the wrong place - just joined.

If anyone sees this or is offered this bike please let me know.

Try Brick Lane tomorrow, Scatler St.

  • Cheers, will do.

Does anyone know of anyone that's been successful at just taking it back?

  • How much do you value your bike over your health?

Best you can hope to do is buy it back or take proof of ownership and try find a policeman who will help.

    Cheers, will do.

I don't know about just taking it back, people have got them back by some of the following methods. You have a number of options.

If you have proof, such as proof of purchase and the frame number, then I would see if there are police around or call them.

If there aren't police around then you could wait for someone to buy it and then accost them with your proof and call the police. It's a bit cunty towards those people, but then again they shouldn't buy stolen bikes, and you are less likely to get hurt by them than by the thieves.

If you don't have proof then there is no point even getting the police involved, which only leaves you with 3 tactics.

    1) just take it, preferably with backup. This will almost certainly go wrong, and end up with someone hurt or locked up.

    2) pay for it. It probably won't be that much. I probably wouldn't mention it's your bike, that might scare them.

    3) ask if you can go for a test ride, and once you are clear of the market just bomb it.

I take no responsibility for whatever you do based on these comments, I'm just telling you your options, personally I would buy it back, assuming the police aren't there.

  • On my experience of a stolen bike, If you see it around, feel free to take it back. Just pedal quickly. This is according to the pigs themselves.
