Nice, neva seen that about. I've seen a blue Fuji around, as well as a Charge freestyler, and a red/chrome/white thing, but only from a distance. My friend is in the midst of building up an old raleigh.

Yeah I'm the one who rides the blue Fuji, but I want to get my frame sprayed. Know any shops that might be able to help me out?
-
• #6
Sweet. Erm no, all the shops around here are pretty shite. Sandwich or Ashford, I imagine.
-

I'm pretty sure there are more bike shops in Canterbury than Ashford, Ashford has halford plus maybe one other bike shop! I'm not sure if Maidstone will be much better, but maybe worth having a hunt around the threads and getting it done on london.
Anyway i'm no use to you (live in London), but my parents live between maidstone and ashford so know the area.

There might be more as you say...but those with the ability to do a frame repray? Doubtful.
But I'm well up for doing some rides sometime soon seeing as i've just finished my exams.

Try Downlands Cycles, a bit expensive but very professional: Martin is their frame building guru, his dad is Arthur Locke from Sandwich.

Sweet, I just had my last exam yesterday. Whereabouts are you studying? I'm at college half the time and Chaucer Tech for A-Level.

Ah, sweet thanks. Wasn't this the shop that used to be on the Canterbury West platform? I was searching around for it when I got a puncture in town the other night but couldn't find it. Looked at the streetmap online and I know exactly where it is now. Will have to pop in once I've earned a bit more money.

Hey man, i'm the kid building the raleigh. I dunno where ure based, but Tokyo Fixed gear in london do a framespray for £60, which by all accounts is a pretty good job. I think you choose the ral code online then they do the rest. I'm considering there for my frame.

Nice stuff, Me and Indykid are both at Langton Sixth form.
And Polo sounds banging. Any concrete football courts around in town?

Probably a long shot but I've been trying to find riders around Canterbury and Kent who ride fixed or single speed. So far I have found 1 person who rides single speed and I've seen a couple of fixed gear bikes around town. Was just hoping that there were some hidden riders lurking around who want to step up and try to get some rides happening. I know there is a little community based around Maidstone, but it's a bit of a trek from Canterbury and was hoping for something a bit closer.
So if there's any riders around the area who want to get some rides happening then let me know. Doubt I'm going to get many replies but it's worth a shot.
I don't suppose that the other single speeder you know is Tori?

Yeah the thing is school's are still around for another month and a bit... SLGS has quite a good sized, multiple tennis court with fencing sort of affair

Theres a tarmac football court in thanington with metal goals, fences, the works. If we could get that at the right moment it would be perfect.

I have to warn you guys I've never played Polo before. I know there's a court near Kingsmead and the Thanington one is usually filled with people. We'll have to set up a ride to Sandwich and set up some Polo then.

Yeah I saw that thread before setting up this one. If we get enough people together then I'll definitely push the idea for a sub-forum.

My my, Canterbury hitting the big time. First a mention on Newsbeat on Radio 1 now this...!

I've just had a pretty good idea for a night race. If we set off from the Cathedral at about 9-10pm and race to the junction at Morrisons and back? Would be better to do it at night since they'll be a lot less action on the roads as the cars round here can get a bit pissy with cyclists. If enough people are up for it then I'll be happy to arrange it, and I'll try and get some of my mates involved as well.

Sounds pretty good. I have another mate who does ride fixed but has an old geared bike, gonna tempt him to convert, perfect opportunity.
