you can hacksaw them off.
then file down.or angle grind off.
depending on level of confidence.

search puppy killing for cable guide removal.
You could space out the formula hub or you could look at goldtec (amongst others) who do hubs with road spacing.
Sheldon Brown or Google will also help.

thanks damo, i was thinking maybe a hacksaw, a sand down then a re-spray might be acceptable

if you are having a prof respray then let them remove the guides.

id go to armourtex for a powdercoat if anything and im just trying to keep the price as low as possible. im just looking for a little project now ive finished uni and while im too skint to buy a nice new track frame so i dont mind trying to tackle some of the work myself, possibly the respray aswel. i did my fuji track frame which came out quite well, but then again it was a new frame with nice paintwork underneath

have you put your formula hub in the frame?
that'd be the best way of checking.
sorry, if that sounds patronising and obvious. it's not meant that way. if you've got a fuji track knocking around, take wheel off. put wheel in.

cheers, nice to know
hi guys this is my first post in this section of the forum so forgive my ignorance. ive picked up an old road frame which has the potential to make quite a nice fixed conversion and i was wondering how easy it was to remove cable guides on the top tube/down tube that would have been used for brake and gear cables and also the mount which would have been used for the front mech.
is it possible to cut/file them off to make the frame look a bit tidier? i was also wondering about the spacing for the rear hub. as far as i know road frames are 130mm rear spacing. is it possible to change hub axles to fit a formula hub into the frame.
any help would be much appreciated.
thanks
