1985 Raleigh Track Frame

Special products division SB7402 frame number. The "SB" stamp on the BB shell indicates it is a special builds (Ti) from the Ilkeston plant.

CTC Top Tube 21.0" - 53.34cm
CTT Seat Tube 20.5" - 52.07cm

Raleigh “Panasonic” colors: pearlised white base with blue/red/yellow stripes.

531 Reynolds Tubing
Cinelli BB shell - normal english threading.
New steerer tube due to stuck stem - replaced by Argos
Fork drilled for a brake - by Argos
Nice tight clearances
No dings or dents just paint chipped etc.

There is a minor rattle from something inside the top tube - it most probably is loose flux/swarf. Read about it in this thread here: http://www.lfgss.com/thread37564.html

I only bought the frame a couple of weeks ago : http://www.lfgss.com/thread42939.html it’s still in the box! Unfortunately I took one look at it and knew that I could not do the frame justice in my novice state : ( So here is it back up for grabs…

Sorry frame is not at home, will let you know tomorrow once I've looked at it...I'm pretty sure it is resprayed.

I wondered that too. If argos replaced the steerer, that would have destroyed the original paint, but I couldnt figure out if it was just burned off or had been resprayed afterwards. Why black though? Weird..

I have the bike I want (aesthetically) in my mind, and as soon as I received the Raleigh frame I knew it would be a cardinal sin to re-spray it monotone - completely disregarding its history, devaluing it etc etc (and was told this by numerous people too).

Needs to buy this frame...

It will look awesome back to its former glory.

There is a guy on ebay who can sort out the decals- just need a white respray.

I am too skint to pay the postage otherwise I would have had it.

Honestly I have no experience with this kindofthing. Here's a close-up pic. Does looked re-sprayed, but maybe that is just a (protective?) coating - hence the black colour.

Ed - can you advise me/us on this?

Its just a quick coat of black paint by Argos to protect the bare metal underneath :-)
