  • To chat about lovely food and posh restaurants.

Where's the best place you ever ate? What was the nicest dish?

Stand outs for me include The Square and Le Manoir Aux Quat' Saisons. Breakfast at the Manoir had a cheese board with over 60 cheeses. There were also about 5 fruits that I've never even heard of, let alone eaten. Wonderful.

  • Posh cunt.

    :-)

  • maccie D's

    *i'm right posh me.

  • The Square hands down. I had to save up all my benefits for a month. Never been to River Café though. Wouldn't mind trying it.

  • ... or those places you really want to eat at ... El Bulli, Fat Duck ...

Had a tasting menu at Auberge Du Lac at Brocket Hall - was a little ott with the 'foam' stuff that seemed to be the big thing last year - overall it was stunning ... except the dessert which was a crap mix of flavours (blue cheese and white chocolate I think).

  • Rapha Burger.

  • River Cafe is excellent, they had a set course lunch running for a couple of months at the start of the year, but there is some building work going on which negates the river aspect of the cafe...

  • Ottolenghis at Angel was inexpensive and amazing when I went.

  • One of the best places MOC and I ever ate was a little restaurant in the arse end of the Netherlands called The Novice.
We had been camping for a week - and decided to go out for dinner on our last night and eat some proper food. We turn up in dirty shorts and t-shirt, me covered in bike grease. The waiter looks us up and down and asks if we want to sit outside :-D
Once they realise that we mean business, we had the most amazing meal. Turns out the chef used to work at a Michelin starred place in Monaco and had decided to move back to NL as it was a better place to bring up his kids

MOC and I are going camping again this year in NL - mainly as an excuse to go back.
If you are ever in the area, go - it's amazing.

  • Nice tip.

I love Dutch. I can sympathise with Steve Mclaren for that interview. EG: Klik hier voor het laatste nieuws. It's just English with a funny accent.

also does the best French onion soup I have ever tasted, and the chef is a lovely jolly chap.

If you ever go to Reykavik, this place is fucking amazing.
The food was so well presented I almost didn't want to eat it.
Also it's a revolving restaurant - can't go wrong with that.

  • Do some work, andy. You've got mouths to feed.

  • My favorite restaurants in London are Racine, Le Poulet Pot, Le Relais de Vencice, and Ken Lo's Memories of China.

  • On my wish list is definitely Noma in Copenhagen. it looks awesome and very different to the kind of European cooking that I'm used to.

  • went to santa maria del sur the other day, was pretty damned good, blue cheese butter FTW.

  • Most memorable meal experience was at Ali Barbours cave off of Diani Beach in Kenya.

The food was gorgeous - 4 courses including the biggest grilled prawns I've ever seen for starters and an incredible half chicken stuffed with crab meat main. Dinner for 2 including champange and wine came to less than £40!

Oh and the atmosphere...they pull back the branch and leaf roof and you're sitting in a candlelit cave with the stars above...pictures don't do it justice.

  • Hippy, please merge this elitist shit.

  • Thanks for your input jaw.

  • bollocks...

    more food threads!

start a "ghetto eats" thread to compensate.

    cornflakes with ketchup FTFW!

  • my fave ghetto food is cottage cheese, tinned tuna and cheese and onion crisps, all mashed up in a bowl. crunchy, soft and tasty.

  • any time smashton.

  • Ate in some great restaurant's in London, but the best has to be at the home of my very own mother! No one make's it like mumma... Portuguese & Goan food... spicy seafood from the Indian ocean... hard to beat...
