FFS, do these people not realise that women ride bikes too?
Meh.

Looks nice-ish.. Somewhere between Swrve and Rapha.

Some people do;

@op - I think the Muxu site you've linked to is a collaboration with www.alwaysriding.co.uk.

There still aren't any 'normal' cycling clothes for women. I won't trash this thread with my rant but I still think there's gap in the market, hence me making my own jacket.

tbh, the market for 'normal' cycling clothes for men still seems pretty small and disparate too. The market is probably pretty niche.

womens cycling jackets do me fine as well as mens.

Which proves my point!
I want a jacket that doesn't look too sporty and the only 'casual' ones around are mens, or they're the complete extreme, like ^^. I don't want ruffle ffs, I just want a 'normal' jacket.
Have ordered my own material. How hard can it be? ;) -

Facking hell 70 quid for a shirt!
Nice though. -
• #11
i thought the shirts were pricey too... but they look like a well considered design, and I guess you pay for that.

• #12
looks pretty damn nice, but it's no outlier.

I mean i've never even seen anyone wearing this sort of expensive cycling clothing, so my assumption is that most men (people?) get by just fine with normal street clothing. All of this clothing is mainly just porn, but as with most porn, albeit yes, it's mostly for men.

Maybe you did but just didn't notice...I see people wearing rapha and swrve all the time. Half the point is that it looks the same. And I've never had a pair of jeans that I can cycle in comfortably withough lycra underneath...

Something is wrong with my approach? I don't think so at all.
I am female, I want a jacket for summer that is active wear so it wicks or at the very least is comfortable when riding, but I don't want it to look sporty. As I've said the only thing available for women is either extremes. A cycling jacket or an IMO overly designed piece that suits Pashley riders.
I don't think this is a 'wrong approach' to want a normal looking jacket that's comfortable to ride in.
I never said cute btw. -

there are lots is my point.
EDIT: i mean doesn't nike or reebok, or addidas, or puma or northface or arcteryx or patagonia or.... don't they all make womens stuff?
also curious.... what kind of "jacket" is worn in the summer? just not sure what you're looking for. curious

well i dunno but i don't "cycle" in jeans. I "cycle" in lycra, and i ride around town in whatever pants i'm wearing.
I guess what i'm saying is that riding around town isn't difficult or complex and doesn't need any special gear.
i donno i guess people need somethign to obsess over.
not trying to make a scene here. just my thoughts.

I guess it's difficult to describe, but I'll have one more go.
I don't want a sporty looking jacket, so Nike etc are out.
I don't want to spend a fortune on Northface etc. and I still consider that sporty.
I want a casual looking, lightweight waterproof jacket that I can wear out and then home on my bike.
What kind of jacket is worn in the summer? A lightweight one. Summer nights in the UK are not warm so I'd want one to to go over a t-shirt.They don't exist mate.

why do so many urban garment start ups know so few 'braked' cyclists?
-

I hate replies i'm getting from different companies after sending them email asking why the don't do any women's cut garments saying that i can wear it anyway - it's of course a unisex. And even when someone decides to run a line of women specific casual cycle clothing they'll fuck it up adding some stupid flower motive or making it pink or baby blue.
Same trouble getting a t-shirt. All you have in womens section is a stupid infantile design with mickey mouse, and if you somehow find a good print it'll have some ridiculous cut or some sparklee crap somewhere.
That horrible tendency stretches unfortunately to frames and saddles as well.

i do think it's horrendously patronising and sexist that pretty much all womens "cycle specific" gear (and bikes!) are so hideous/covered in flowers or swirly bollocks. I went through all of this with my girlfriend recently and have to agree re:the crap selection spoken about above. I should also add that she has a couple of jerseys now and the cut of the one Rapha jersey is x10,000 better than anything else - she is so much happier in it as a result. Sample sale ftw.
HOWEVER I totally agree with Jersey re: not really needing anything specific for cycling in town as really, it doesn't place huge strains on your body or bike. As long as you have a comfortable pair of shorts/trousers and a waterproof you're good.
Would also add that we managed to get my lady a northface jacket that does the job nicely for about £70, which in the grand scheme of things is pretty reasonable..Especially when you consider that you could buy 4 for the same price as a Rapha softshell

Muxu stuff looks nice and has the added porn effect of making me want to move to barcelona, though I wanted to do that anyway, so no biggie.

Just thought I would say I just got my hands on their Merino Wool Ride Jumper - Fits really nice, longer sleeves so its doensnt ride up when you are in drops, little canvas patches on the shoulders that stop your bag strap scuffing and a little pocket at the back. Its comfy and looks smart enough to wear out as smart casual at work I think.
Its really nice. I got it as a present. Until now I have never heard of them. Seems much less WP than Rapha and smarter than Swrve.
Has anyone seen this/ tried any?
http://www.muxu.cc/
It appears to be the Spanish version of Swrve (their 3/4 shorts look quite similar) - it looks nice but quite pricey...(they also have a Rapha-esqe cap)
Apparently http://www.alwaysriding.co.uk/ will be stocking it soon.
