Fitting my rear wheel. Help!

Posted on
  • Hi,

So i'v just bought a 60's track frame and a wheel set with campag high flange hubs, and they won't fit on to the frame, from my measurements they are the same width (110mm) but when I put them together the hub is about 1/4 cm too big!?

    Any help much appreciated.

  • why dont you try pulling the dropouts a little and shuvvin that fukker in there?

    ^He's right he is.

  • Hold on.

Are you talking about the gap between the fork ends, or the gap that the axle slides into?

If the latter, you will need a new axle, a new hub, or frame/axle surgery.

  • Hi,

Dropouts take a narrow axle. Use a file. If they are shit dropouts, bend the outwards (make sure the axle is not skewed after). If they are proper dropouts (like Campag), slowly file them down...

  • i had the same problem with a small frame(50cm)and i pulled the dropouts and worked after that i replaced the rear wheel, then tyre and worked allm the time...good luck be gentle
