The Bicycle Music Festival has begun to pick up moment with an issue today of the press release below and more than 12 bands agreeing to play at the 5 venues
PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
**Bicycle Music Festival London (June 5 - 6) **
Four and a half thousand miles (7,500km), some 19 cities spread across 10 countries...
So, just a typical music tour, then? Well, not quite – because Kipchoge Spencer and his band the Ginger Ninjas http://gingerninjas.com/ along with four other bands known collectively as the Pleasant Revolution *http://www.pleasantrevolution.net/about-this-blog/*are doing it on bicycles. The musicians are carrying all their instruments and equipment on specially converted bikes known as Xtracycles http://www.xtracycle.com/ and all performances are powered by pedal power with the cycles connected to generators to power the 1200watt PA system.
On 5 and 6 June the musical entourage comes to the UK capital and in good old London style we have organised a beautiful reception for them with six performances from British bands in different locations across town – which we’re calling the Bicycle Music Festival London.
Below are the venues

Balki,
Sorry for writing the same thing three times but I have not organised something like this before and I was trying (unsuccessfully) to get people interested.
Yes people will be riding around playing music but will also be stopped at 5 venues across London which I will not repeat for a fouth time.
It is happening over both Saturday and Sunday and from the response we have had so far we expect about a 1000 people to attend over the weekend

Maybe post this in General Thread as well.
I've checked the bands on youtube and they sound worth a listen and have a strong eco ethos.
I'll catch them at London Fields.

Hi,
London Fields would be good we plan to play music whilst we are on the move between venues as well as at the fixed venues so if you catch it at LF you can join the ride to Stepney.
Thanks for the idea about posting to the general thread but being an old technophob I have no idea how you do that.

News from the Bicycle Music Festival
The core of the Bicycle Music Festival the Pleasant Revolution the five bands who are doing a European tour entirely on bicycles entered London early this morning. They were delayed yesterday when one of their number Mychal lost control of her heavily laden bicycle coming down a hill into Godstone Surrey.
Caught between god and a hard place Mychal broke her wrist and badly bruised herself and the Pleasant Revolution’s progress slowed to a halt outside London.
Kipchoge took Mikal to the East Surrey Hospital and the rest of the group cycled on to London.
All is still set for a mega event on Saturday and Sunday with an anticipated thousand turning up over the weekend.
If you are interested in joining the Festival from the outset the festival will start its progress from Stoke Newington the corner of Nevill and Osterley Roads N16 at 8:30am sharp on Saturday and 11:00 am sharp from the same place on Sunday but please e-mail us to let us know you are coming bmflondon@gmail.com
We are also still looking for volunteers for all sorts of activities but particularly marshalling the ride and helping set up at the venues so if you have the time please help out.
You can follow our progress at http://www.pleasantrevolution.net/
All the best

It might help clarify how this festival works to see the names of the bands that will be performing at each venue in the schedule, even if some times are still TBA.
So basically, at each venue a handful of bands are playing, the bands being a mix of locals and Pleasant Revolutionaries, right? And then in between venues, everyone gets on their bikes to ride to the next locale. Meanwhile a performer rides as a passenger on one of the bikes and plays through an FM-transmitting P/A.

Thanks Tricky for your post
Yes you have pretty much got the line up.
I am trying to get a complete list of bands playing and when but been having a few problems tieing people down. We have had plenty of yes's but times? I bit more difficult to get a commitment.
