Servo-Wave. This unique Shimano feature has now made it's way into road brakes and can be found when you mate these Ultegra BR-6700 brake calipers with the ST-6700 brake levers. Same basic design at the 7900 Dura Ace, just a little heavier and a lot cheaper.

The Servo-Wave is what has improved modulation and power. Servo-Wave in the brakes also means you've got to use these calipers with 6700 or 7900 levers or they are not going to work, at least according to Shimano.

I was thinking of getting the Ultegra 6700 front brake for my new Fuji track, with the Diatech Dirt Harry lever, but not sure now.
Anyone use Ultegra front brakes, if so which levers work?

  • its a brake, it will work with any lever

  • With a five inch long brake lever on an STI and the cable run through the unit you can probably do all kinds of fancy leverage/modulation stuff and brand-name it.

With a Dirty Harry ummm "notta so much"

edit there is a whole compatability chart of the new 6700/7900 Shimano stuff to last 6600/7800 etc. series that people are picking apart as being bollocks.
I have new 6700 cranks with old 105 front derailleur combo (there is a new 105 series soon) that Shimano say doesn't work together even though it does perfectly.

  • its a brake, it will work with any lever

That's what common sense would tell you isn't it? I'm getting the 6700.
    Cheers guys
