• Can anyone recommend one? Don't want to ride along Oxford Circus. My eventual destination is Latimer Road. Not really clear from the map how to play it.

    Cheers

  • Post codes would help... or at least a more accurate starting point.

  • Sorry, starting at Chancery Lane, end point Latimer Road tube stop basically.

I have ridden in every part of London and West London just seems so big and scary road wise.

  • Wigmore street instead of Ox Circ.
Or get a tfl cycle path map from a lbs if you want more quieter routes.

  • to tour the side streets and those with bike lanes follow tfl's cycle journey planner online. or use one of their maps.

experiment with a few different routes as everyone likes different routes...really depends what you are after.

  • Ok cool, WIgmore street makes sense, but then where. That is when it gets really in obvious.

    have you tried cyclestreets?

there you go - check the balanced + quiet options.

    (absolutely avoid Oxford Street)

    in obvious?

Just look on google maps. Plan your route, then drag the route away from the busy roads and it will recalculate.
Do the route a few times and short-cuts / better options will become obvious when you're out there.

Basically, get off the forum and on your bike mate. ;)

  • it sounds like you could benefit from cycletraining if you dont feel safe on the roads

  • ^ +1. Learn to love (well, at least not hate) riding anywhere.

  • I don't feel safe cycling near DJ. Will cycle training cure me of that?

  • Just ride along Oxford Street to Poland Street:

On a side note, how about that new Bloomsbury Way Bus/Cycle Lane contraflow?
    Fuck yes.

no no - that takes you on the bit of Oxford Street where https://www.lfgss.com/thread41386.html happened. not good.

  • I hate Oxford St. I prefer to ride along Euston Road.

  • Too true. Oxford Street is the bus death realm.

  • It looks nice at Xmas tho.

  • Learn to ride a bike you lily-livered twists.
